Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko accused neighbouring Ukraine on Tuesday of sending 15,000 troops to the border area to build defences and conduct reconnaissance, actions that he called "provocations".
Lukashenko allowed his close ally Russia in February to use Belarus as a staging post for its invasion of Ukraine. However, he has said Belarus is not a party to the conflict and that its own forces are not involved.
In comments carried by the state news agency BelTA, Lukashenko said the Ukrainian unit brought up to the border had blocked roads and was setting up checkpoints and firing positions.
"In a word, [Ukraine] has not only barricaded itself, but built a wall. Constantly conducting optical, radio-electronic and radio-technical reconnaissance of our territory, troops and objects," Lukashenko said.

“Putin is pressuring Lukashenko to send troops to Poland to stop NATO weapons transfers through the area.”
If Putin is pressuring Lukashenko to do that, Lukashenko would be insane to comply.
Russia is losing this war, on several levels. Belarus sees that. Lukashenko may issue such an order, but if he does I think he will be deposed.
Poland is capable of crushing Belarus one-on-one.
“The warning to Putin is that if he uses a nuke on Ukraine, he loses Belarus and Kalingrad.”
Could be.
_____Scum to the left of me, jokers to the right. I’m stuck in the middle with you._____
(Lukashenko and Vlad) (the love affair that was never consummated)
US, NATO, Poland and Ukraine have been preparing for a Belarus attack in the weapons transfer corridor for months now. They’re ready.

I am sure we are. Belarus would be making a colossal mistake if it moved against Poland.
Poland was showing off their newly constructed wall with Belarus last week.
I think Poland built that border fence facing Belarus because the latter was facilitating Syrian migrants attempting to cross the Polish border.
Pretty sure they don’t want any issue with the military that is embarrassing Russia on the battlefield.
What about Gulf war?
So Lukashenko is suddenly now wearing a military uniform, eh?
“Poland was showing off their newly constructed wall with Belarus last week.”
Let’s hope it is more effective than the Maginot Line (where the Germans just went around it).
Legally he became a belligerent when he did that.
Next thing you know the Ukrainians are attacking the Gleiwitz Radio Station.
“So Lukashenko is suddenly now wearing a military uniform, eh?”
You noticed that, too? Does that make this hugh and series?
“Next thing you know the Ukrainians are attacking the Gleiwitz Radio Station.”
Oh, don’t think Putin and Lukashenko won’t pull out that old canard.
If Russia attacks NATO (Poland) then it will be nuclear war.
Belarus is kind of large country, but pretty sparsely populated. They do not have too much an army.
Mostly NKWD troops.
[Yeah that’s pretty ‘rich’ isn’t it? I would say that Lukashenko might be laying the predicate for Belarus entering the war on Russia’s side. Putin is likely pressuring him to do so.]
