There was an incident on the Russian Baltic Sea pipeline, as confirmed by the Danish shipping authority. The operator Gascade speaks of a sharp drop in pressure in the tube. An accident is considered unlikely. The timing of the accident suggests sabotage.

BERLIN, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Pressure in the Nord Stream 2 undersea gas pipeline from Russia to Germany dropped from 105 to 7 bars overnight, a spokesperson for the pipeline’s operator said, adding that the company did not know the cause of the drop.
The Russian-owned pipeline, which was intended to double the volume of gas flowing from St. Petersburg under the Baltic Sea to Germany, had just been completed and was filled with 300 million cubic metres of gas when German Chancellor Olaf Scholz cancelled it shortly before Russia invaded Ukraine.
The Swiss-based operator, which has legally been wound up, said it had informed all relevant authorities and that the leak, if that were the cause, could not have been at the landing point in Lubmin, northern Germany.

A natural gas leak has been detected from a section of the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 pipeline in Danish waters, Danish authorities said Monday.
“A leak has occurred today on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline in the Danish area,” said the Danish Energy Agency.
A no-go zone of 5 nautical miles has been established around the pipeline south of the Danish island of Bornholm. Baltic maritime agencies are currently coordinating, with the undersea leak being pegged to a likely depth of 60 meters to 70 meters.
“The leakage is dangerous,” reads a mariners’ warning from the Danish Maritime Authority. “Navigation is prohibited.”
Since Russia cut off NordStream sales, why would this not be a false flag opportunity? They are looking for justifications to bluster against NATO.
On the other side, why would the US or allies cut a currently non-functioning pipeline? Why would Germany cut its own oil/gas supply?
Why would US and allied ASW assets be engaged in the area?

Please, don’t think he’s stupid enough to show the possible pausing of an operational line to get a point across. He’s got the best of both worlds threatening Europe with what can happen while continuing to make cash over the original line. You don’t mess with the cow while it is milking. You might mess with another cow to strike fear into the milk lovers. I never said the effect was a loss of product. But the effect is of possibly losing the product.

Well, it does seem to be a big coincidence that everyone was predicting that Russia would turn off the tap as soon as the first cold snap hit.
In fact, I heard Jorden Peterson say that Putin was already giving out a warning by saying that they needed to shut down the pipeline for maintenance.

germany is in for some serious economic pain. NS2 has been dangling there as an option for them. the party interested in making sure that option is removed is not russia (who can simply not sell the gas to them).
this seems obvious to me.
Nord Stream 1 has been shut down for three weeks.
It would be just a bridge too far me to believe that the US would permit a sabotage of an ally like this. That’s just me.

Theoretically. If there’s enough gas perking to the surface a ship could — again THEORETICALLY — lose buoyancy and sink. It’s like trying to float an object in beer foam.
But the leak is over 70m down (240 ft). Depressurizing that pipeline from that depth probably wouldn’t cause that kind of an affect at the surface.
