Biden admin quietly warned Putin for months about consequences over nuke use
The Washington Post ^ | September 22, 2022 | Paul Sonne and John Hudson

The United States for several months has been sending private communications to Moscow warning Russia’s leadership of the grave consequences that would follow the use of a nuclear weapon, according to U.S. officials, who said the messages underscore what President Biden and his aides have articulated publicly.

The Biden administration generally has decided to keep warnings about the consequences of a nuclear strike deliberately vague, so the Kremlin worries about how Washington might respond, the officials said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive deliberations.

The attempt by the White House to cultivate what’s known in the nuclear deterrence world as “strategic ambiguity” comes as Russia continues to escalate its rhetoric about possible nuclear weapons use amid a domestic mobilization aimed at stanching Russian military losses in eastern Ukraine.

The State Department has been involved in the private communications with Moscow, but officials would not say who delivered the messages or the scope of their content. It was not clear whether the United States had sent any new private messages in the hours since Russian President Vladimir Putin issued his latest veiled nuclear threat during a speech announcing a partial mobilization early Wednesday, but a senior U.S. official said the communication has been happening consistently over recent months.

Some people tried to get Dwight Eisenhower to risk war with the USSR back when we had our greatest nuclear advantage. Ike who knew something about war wasn’t having it.

Today we have Generalissimos Biden and Lindsey Graham spoiling for a fight with Russia, because apparently a ‘limited’ nuclear war will be a minor inconvenience.

They need to heed the wisdom of war theorist Mike Tyson, “Everbody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

Russia gets a vote in whether a war involving them becomes limited or general, and wars have a habit of careening out of anyone’s control.

And Dementia Joe and Boris Johnson effectively killed a budding peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia back in April, because apparently Dementia Joe wanted to “punish” the Russians for “helping Trump win” in 2016.

Not true.

Read the entire Foreign Policy article from which that lie was derived from and see for yourself:

The World Putin Wants: How Distortions About the Past Feed Delusions About the Future

Despite calls by some for a negotiated settlement that would involve Ukrainian territorial concessions, Putin seems uninterested in a compromise that would leave Ukraine as a sovereign, independent state—whatever its borders. According to multiple former senior U.S. officials we spoke with, in April 2022, Russian and Ukrainian negotiators appeared to have tentatively agreed on the outlines of a negotiated interim settlement: Russia would withdraw to its position on February 23, when it controlled part of the Donbas region and all of Crimea, and in exchange, Ukraine would promise not to seek NATO membership and instead receive security guarantees from a number of countries. But as Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in a July interview with his country’s state media, this compromise is no longer an option. Even giving Russia all of the Donbas is not enough. “Now the geography is different,” Lavrov asserted, in describing Russia’s short-term military aims. “It’s also Kherson and the Zaporizhzhya regions and a number of other territories.” The goal is not negotiation, but Ukrainian capitulation.

Absolute madness. I’m sixty six. Never in my life have I heard nuclear war discussed so casually. Maniacs talking about first round launches, our missiles are more effective than yours, denigrating each other’s nuclear capacity. Until now everyone knew about and accepted MAD. Nuclear war is no longer too terrible to contemplate. This is straight out of the fifties. Nuclear war can now be successfully waged? And for Ukraine?!? Are you kidding me? We might as well fight WWIII over all of our precious bodily fluids.

But...

I don’t see TR or the usual suspects talking about how we’re 30 trillion in debt, how we have a southern border to guard not Ukraine’s borders either, or maybe I missed it.

The Russians can do the same to every major American city.

And, over what? A corrupt to the bone Ukraine that has banned all opposition parties, arrested opposition leadership, seized all media, arrests dissenters and has brided pefo Joe and his Coke head perverted son.

Yeah, that is certainly worth the destruction of the modern world.

Your good buddy Cranked posted this article yesterday. I’ll respond to you the way I responded to him:

Ah, Joseph Massad. Rabidly anti-America and anti-West, and a virulent anti-Semite.

His opening sentence is telling: “It is the US and the imperialist West, not Iran or Russia, who have posed and continue to pose the largest possible threat to human survival.”

And, this gem: “(Liz Truss) is not alone among political leaders in the western imperialist states to threaten nuclear annihilation in the past few months if their hegemony and imperial profits were threatened by resistance to their exploitation and control of the globe.”

Did she say “...if Britain’s hegemony and imperial profits were threatened by resistance to their exploitation and control of the globe?” No, of course she didn’t. But the toxic Dr. Massad is not at all reluctant to make up slanders and cloak them in hyperbole.

And this: “The French foreign minister subsequently threatened Putin,” a lie “...who spoke of Russia’s nuclear capabilities as a defensive measure,” another lie, because ballistic nukes are offensive weapons “...by declaring that Nato, too, remained a “nuclear alliance” and “that is all I will say about this”. Macron responded to Putin’s bluster about the power of Russia’s nuclear forces by saying, “We have nuclear weapons, too.”

Massad is a shameful fraud, a mountebank, and huckster, tightly wrapped in hate and bilious slanders.

Ever watch the program “first strike” back in the early 80s?

Every single one of them-, some became sec of defense later on, said that in less than 10 minutes, or there abouts, a first strike from Russia could eliminate the majority of our nuclear capabilities. The sum of the opinions on that program was that we would not retaliate.

Just earlier this summer, the same opinion came out if I remember right.

There was also a study done by the NATO people about how many would directly die in a full out nuclear war with Russia. The minimum was over 900 million...in Europe.

So..after Russia succeeds in this vote, and I suspect they will because there can not be that many Ukrainian opposition to Russia left in those regions, Putin said the other night that Russia would retaliate aggressively if ANY further attacks were done on its territory.

I can get the direct quote if you want..but that is the facts of the matter. Russia takes those territories as its own, it becomes Russian, and any attacks will be considered attacks on Russia.

All because of one pig faced worthless son of a bitch president of the USA.
