On Saturday, Sept. 17, shots rang off inside Northpark Mall in Ridgeland, Mississippi, as 16-year-old Za’Lill D’Chelle Patterson attempted to steal from a popcorn store.
As reported by CBS 42, the shooting occurred around 5:20 p.m., when Patterson pulled out a gun after she was caught trying to shoplift from the store by the owner. According to Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers, the threatened store owner shot Patterson in the leg in self-defense.
Inside the mall, the gunshots caused major panic. In one documented moment, a father and his son were spending time together, enjoying the day while the child was trying on his first pair of Jordans. The father was recording their moment when suddenly the shots were fired. The duo ran inside a nearby store for safety. Thankfully they were not hurt.
As reported by WJTV, shoppers inside the mall, consisting of parents with their children and elderly people, immediately made a dash for it, in fear for their lives.
...(snip)...
The owner of the store was not charged with anything.

Had the same thought.
Armed Robber Shot in Self-Defense at Mall
Those Parisian immigrants are crazy about popcorn.
One doesn’t care what she looks like.
She “allegedly” pulled a gun on a guy over the theft of a coke, so the guy shot her in the leg.
It might be kinda interesting to know what the poor guy who had to shoot her might be.
BTW there are places in this country where the guy who defended himself would be in trouble for NOT shooting center mass. “Oh, so Mr. Popcorn, you shot Ms. La’Shille because you were in fear for your life, yet you went to the trouble to shoot her in the leg... How does that work.
Don’t get me wrong though. He was right to shoot her. Shot placement is his choice.
Why do “Teens” always seem to look like they are in their 40’s these days?
Assuming the kid doesn’t end up an jail or dead by their own doing, stupid parent(s) have no idea how much damage they do to their kids’ futures naming them like that regardless of how successful in school they might be.
I thought the same thing when I read the name "Za’Lill D’Chelle".
I made a mistake, though, about some of the patrons when I read that they "enjoying the day while the child was trying on his first pair of Jordans". That, too, sounded "Amish" to me, until I reread part of the sentence before that: "a father and his son were spending time together".
More apostrophes than brain cells.
She’s already out on no bail release and they gave her the firearm back to her too
She’s French.
Lil’ Za’Lill.
WhaaaTHeck???
Where did you see that?
The mall white people used to go to?
Lil’ Za’Lill, went over the hill,
Wanting to steal some popcorn.
Too bad for her, the owner had a gun,
And shot her in the leg.
No popcorn for Lil' Za'Lill.
I know, my poetry sucks.
Did you ever notice that really smart people don’t include nicknames in their titles.
You never hear about Albert “Da Brain” Einstein, Nicholas “Lil Static” Tesla or Thomas “Lite yo Night” Edison.
And most don't have dozens of tats either.
I immediately thought the same thing.
Za’Lill D’Chelle Patterson
Sometimes a name is worth a thousand pictures.
Shot her in leg
Considerate
My hometown of many generations
Gone black in the city proper
Man, if I’m gonna get shot for shoplifting, I hope it is for trying to swipe something more than a soda or some popcorn.
Might have been intentional if she seemed hapless
