Protests have broken out in parts of Russia following President Vladimir Putin's announcement that he was calling up reservists in an escalation of the war in Ukraine, according to reports.
According to Latvian news website Meduza, authorities have begun to confront protests that have erupted in Russian cities.
The Avtozak LIVE Telegram channel has shared images of some of the protesters and signs saying "No mobilization"
Other signs have used a play on words to turn "no war, no mobilization" to "no war, no grave-ization."
In Irkutsk, according to the Irkutsk Anarchist Telegram channel, authorities have already dispersed rallies and detained a number of people.
While in other cities, authorities are speaking to protesters, checking documents and suggesting they leave.
One video of a protester shouting back at police—in Lenin Square in the city of Khabarovsk in Russia's Far East—has begun circulating on Telegram.
In the video, shared to the Telegram ACT-54 Black channel, a person is seen shouting "I am not going to die for Putin and for you. You yourself know that everything sucks."
People around him began to clap in support.

What would the US do if say Iran was in the streets calling for America to free it from the system of Ayatollahs? Answer is, NOT AN EFFIN’ THING. The reason is, that was a true call for help, this one in Russia is agitprop stirred up by the West.

No one wants to see their young men sacrificed in a meaningless war. My question is where the hell are the rest of the American parents and grandparents who see where this madness is heading? Why aren’t we in the streets protesting this proxy war that is well on its way to being a full blown US/Russian land war? Heck, if nothing else, I think I’m the only one in America protesting the $500 million a day DC is pi$$ing away in this quagmire.

We all should maintain some sense of hope and faith.
Anyone who thinks this opposition is entirely, or even mostly indigenous is not knowledgeable.
And the same can be said for those who think it widespread.
Yes, dozens of people were seen protesting - in a city of 13 MILLION. I myself marched along the Ring Road in Moscow with millions in protests the last months of the Soviet Union. Show that today and it might actually mean something.
By the way, anyone in Ukraine protest and they get picked up and disapeared.
Just an aside; most of us agree there’s very little in American and Western media that is not total BS anymore in regards to just about any subject. It’s nearly all propaganda now, except of course when it comes to Ukraine and Russia.
Why should school children be conscripted and sent the front before you when you are clear on national issues and highly motivated?

Russians have a weird history (1918 and 1991) of not speaking out and taking loads of crap from their leaders. Then all of a sudden, they finally get fed up and toss them out in one mass uprising.
