Flights From Russia Sell Out Minutes After Putin Announces Partial Mobilization

Vladimir Putin today made a speech announcing that the conflict in Ukraine would be escalated, resulting in citizens attempting to leave the country.

In Putin's speech, he said there would be a partial mobilization of the military. Reservists and ex-military personnel with "certain military specialties and relevant experience" will be subject to conscription, he said.

Following this, according to the Russian online newspaper Lenta, flights to Armenia, Turkey and Georgia sold out.

"All tickets for direct flights to Istanbul and Yerevan were sold out in a few minutes after Putin's address," the publication's Twitter page wrote in a caption.

It also shared screenshots of the pages and how they could not be booked.

E Rosalie L, a Johns Hopkins interdisciplinary scholar, also said that the costs of flights began to skyrocket yesterday, when Putin was initially set to make his speech.

And that is exactly what Putin has done, shutting down the flow from Nordstream. In the pinch, Europe has turned to LNG imports and may just get through the winter.

That reserve completely filled is said to be good for one month of German usage. However, in concert with other established sources and new sources coming online, buying more electricity from France, etc., the German gas reserve and supplies in total should actually get them through at least 3 months. Prices could spike again, though. And LNG is pricey even in normal times. Are Germans willing to accept Lithuanian living standards if need be, to wreck Russia?

Germany may try, but they cannot stop the train. The US, Britain, and Poland will continue to help Ukraine even if the Germans whine about it.

They display an elitist mindset, having never seen a group of farmboys rucking hay or planning a hunt or discussing soils or drones or automated milking parlors.

Successful farmers are well-to-do and the most successful are wealthy.

Nor have they experienced the planning an urban criminal gang is capable of when after well-protected loot.

Or a poor family managing to scrape by & make do without becoming criminals.

These are not inconsiderable individuals.

“Russia will lose because US,UK, & NATO.”

Every military tells its own troops the enemy are weaklings. I find that odd. I would think the troops would fight harder if told they were facing a superhuman, invincible force, like, you know: US, UK, & NATO.

Germany has lagged in meeting its obligations
_________________________________

What *obligations*? There are demands and there are *donations*.

If you’ve ever fundraised, 1st thing that happens is the pledge, usually in public and in a convivial environment filled with friends, family, and colleagues. A bit later, comes the donation, or a part of the pledge, or none.

Germany only *pledged*. It has not delivered. It is under no obligation. As for lagged: There is no benchmark to meet. There are only insatiable serial asks from Zelensky.

“Take up the slack”? Who is mining ore, shipping ore, smelting ore, milling/fabricating metal in an environment of fuel scarcity, energy restriction, lack of transport, lack of skilled labor and a general drumbeat from the media of famine, bankruptcy, war, and irrelevancy?

Doubtless, the above-mentioned nations were asked and many pledged. But you cannot get blood from a turnip and the only way to “take up the slack” is to convert to a militaristic, war-time economy with every aspect of civilian life curtailed as all resources feed only the war machine and it’s political ticks.

“Lost in the field” is right, but it isn’t Putin.

...be above normal levels, so energy prices in the market may soon ease.
___________________________

Define ‘normal levels’. Are those the levels that exist when reserves are at historical benchmarks AND adequate flows of new gas/oil is continuing to arrive in a timely fashion?

Last headline I glanced at said oil had risen. Didn’t read the article, but I checked and my local gasoline is at a low of 3.44 and hasn’t changed in a few days.

I once ran a small production manufacturing shop. All producers rely on market prices. All market prices are volatile and rarely in a way beneficial to the buyer. Even if you stockpile material, it runs out and you have to price it out to accommodate the future cost. I suppose the large corporations can borrow against future sales, but if I was a lender, I’d eye sales projections sharply in this financial moment. Retailers are declaring force majeur in order to renege on contracted volumes.

Responsible nations make good on their promises. Germany has shirked doing so as to her promises in regard to Ukraine, no doubt in part due to Russian economic and political pressure. And Germans wonder why they may be admired but are little loved.

European energy markets are in turmoil due to rising prices, with performance in doubt on many contracts, but Europe seems to have sufficient physical inventory and LNG import flow to make it through the winter. I am not so sure that Putin will last that long.

Responsible nations concern themselves with the well-being of their citizens and the fiscal condition of their nation. Charitable pledges &/or donations are not promises. They are aspirations and subject to exigency.

Germans have publicly committed to the dismantling of Russia. They have been obdurate on both sanctions and the responses. In fact, they double & triple down.

In that event, how does Russia exert economic or political pressure?

You mouth phrases that do not fit the context.

Russians feel Ukrainians are sub-human, what better thing to call an actual sub-human Russian, other than sub-human.

Do you realize that the Russian on average is much better educated than American regardless the location?

Yep, educated by the Kremlin and Tass and repeating commie doctrines in the jokes that pass for educational institutions in Russia.

The really educated Russians are protesting right now because the Kremlin ran out of convicts and Mongols and is threatening to conscript people from Moscow and Leningrad.

Yes. Notice that they are very classist, as well. “Poors”, “Yee-Haws”.

Dude, Russia is one of the most Classist places in "Europe" and the Stereotypes are real.

The MAJORITY of the Russian military is poorer than the poorest citizens in the US. Crap in an outhouse poor. No running water poor. They joined the military for money and to get out of their dried up town. Being an American pointing out the sad reality of the Russian Military is "Classist?". Whatever.

The Yee haws are the state TV watching nationalist outside of the major cities. The Ukranian NAZI's have NOTHING on them, because they'' believe EVERYTHING Putin tells them and will invade any country Putin tells them to invade. Yee Haww!

Stereotypes are real. Propaganda works.

You forgot I mentioned the Jihadi's, too. They WERE the tip of Putin's spear after the VDV got wiped out trying to take Kiev and they are now wandering off, to cause trouble for Putin back near their home Mosque. Make deals with the Devil and all.

Algiers?

the North African country is so heavily reliant on Moscow for its military hardware that it's an uphill battle to look for alternatives elsewhere, analysts say.

-- and the deal was signed in 2021, but no weapons sent yet

As for India India cancelled orders of Russian jets, weapons:

and https://thediplomat.com/2022/06/indian-experts-want-new-delhi-to-buy-fewer-arms-from-russia-and-everyone-else-too/ - "India is increasingly sourcing more sophisticated military products from the broadly-understood West – mainly the U.S. and France, but also Israel. Certain key platforms sold to India, such as fighter jets and helicopters, won recent competitions with their Russian equivalents, or have been induced into the Indian Armed Forces to replace older Russian/Soviet products.

Second, New Delhi is increasingly selecting Western technology because overall it is better than Russian offerings, not because of a shared belief in democracy. The value that the Indian government is looking for in this context is a strategic one, rather than shared ethical values. It is a technological choice much more than a political one

Nope - no one has publicly or privately "committed to the dismantling of Russia"

In fact the sanctions are to stop Putin dismantling Ukraine.

Look at the recent story between Algiers and Europe. For India you didn’t say anything new. They are leveraging for a long time and your points don’t cancel mine.
