Former U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman wrote in a new book that the Justice Department under Trump pushed his office to pursue criminal cases against former Secretary of State John Kerry and others viewed as political opponents of Trump.
Democrats, who have been happy to elevate Trump and his conduct in the wake of an FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago estate, will look into the matter, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) announced Monday night.

The president is the chief law-enforcement officer in the land. DOJ is directly under his command, it is not independent. A president can open an investigation, conduct it himself, or direct his subordinates to do so. He can also stop an investigation. The only remedy is impeachment at that time if it’s done for some sort of corrupt reason. Trump had an absolute right to direct the DOJ to look into it. Of course, the treason infested DOJ simply refused his orders and slow walked things. Trump had very little control of anything that was not within his immediate sight.

Was John Kerry some sort of threat to Trump that he woudl even care (aside from Kerry going to Iran). Did Session or Barr initiate this? Didn’t Barr fire Berman?

Calling John Kerry a “political opponent” of Trump is like calling Nancy Pelosi a swimsuit model. That guy was long last his political expiration date by the time Trump showed up in Washington.

An obviously corrupt ex DOJ official writes a book full of allegations so that the DOJ can then pursue those allegations. All arranged ahead of time. No different than when they use the news media to accomplish the same.
