Merrick Garland is supposed to be a pretty good lawyer. Harvard Law School, federal prosecutor, federal judge, Supreme Court nominee, attorney general presiding over the Department of Justice (DOJ) — all the cake, most of the icing, without the cherry.
But some of my former prosecutor friends tell me that he may have overlooked a key procedural point in his current joust with former President Trump over the Mar-a-Lago documents. On Sept. 8, Garland filed a notice of appeal to the 11th circuit Court of Appeals from the special master order of Florida District Judge Aileen Cannon.
Simultaneously, he moved the inexperienced Trump-appointed Judge Cannon to modify her order granting Trump’s motion to appoint a special master and gratuitously (Trump never asked for such relief) enjoining the government from “further review and use of any of the materials seized from [Trump’s] residence” (the FBI said it had already reviewed it all) “for criminal investigative purposes, pending resolution of the special master’s review process…”

Well, Garland is a screw up that has no business sitting at the grown ups table.
I am afraid we may not be able to vote our way out of this mess.
“Has Merrick Garland screwed up the Mar-a-Lago case?”
Merrick Garland has screwed up the Department of Justice!
There, fixed it
Sure looks like it
Harvard Law provides no decent education, what it provides is a long list of insider contacts. So simply going there doesn't mean you have good aptitude.
Well, The Hill, maintains its reputation for being the voice of upheaval, chaos, discontent and pure dumbness.
If The Hill is asking this question good possibility he has.
LOL. Reading the article is a laugh fest. Liberal tears, the best medicine.
Just imagine the damage he could have done to this country sitting on the Supreme Court. One of the VERY few things McConnell made happen for the good.
Purposeful IMO, it’s all meant to pour cold water on Republican election organization and cohesion.
The question asked in the headline is difficult to answer. There is no case. Garland and his crew are trying to manufacture a case. That’s a slightly different question. Has he screwed up in his effort to frame Trump for something/anything? Probably. They will just keep trying.
+1
Spot on!
What a read, DOJ stands for Dept of Juveniles
Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned/Nor Hell a fury like a woman scorned
Or........ a spurned nominee for the Supreme Court
Not particularly, since there was no case to begin with.
The few Harvard or Yale lawyers that are truly good attorneys, would have been just as good had they gone to any other law school. Most are woefully ignorant of basic law, and completely clueless about any sophisticated legal concepts. Your comments, 1OldPro, are spot on.
That was my thought, too. “WHAT case”? The author is guilty of leading the witness or “asked and answered.”
The only thing better than an indictment of Trump is a democrat claim Trump is getting away with something!
