NYC Mayor Adams sends delegation to southern border amid clash with Texas Gov. Abbott over migrant buses

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has sent a "fact-finding" delegation to the southern border, part of the ongoing battle with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott over the busing of illegal immigrants to the Big Apple.

The delegation from Adams’ office met on Tuesday with Border Patrol officials in Eagle Pass, Texas, along the shores of the Rio Grande, where hundreds of migrants have crossed into the U.S. each day. In a statement, Adams’ office accused Abbott's office of being "unresponsive" and turning the situation "into a political sideshow."

"We’ve sent members of the team down on a fact-finding mission to hear directly from folks on the ground along the southern border and get the real answers we’re not getting from Texas, including whether they are sending asylum seekers to New York City even if they prefer to go elsewhere," press secretary Fabian Levy said in a statement.

"Here in New York, we will continue to welcome asylum seekers with open arms, as we learn more about the process, meet with real partners, and see, firsthand, the reportedly inhumane conditions in which asylum seekers are being subjected to by the state of Texas," he said.

A source familiar with the visit told Fox News that the delegation's trip included a tour of Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) new temporary processing facility in Eagle Pass, which is currently packed with migrants and can house up to 1,000 people. Migrants typically stay at the facility for less than 72 hours during processing before they're either released or deported.

Abbott’s office says it has transported approximately 1,900 migrants to New York City since the beginning of August, as well as more than 7,000 to Washington, D.C., since April — and started sending buses to Chicago last week.

On Tuesday, Abbott’s office said his invitation for Adams to come see the border in person was still open. "Governor Abbott’s invitation is still open for Mayor Adams to come visit our southern border and see firsthand the devastating impacts of the Biden-made crisis on border towns smaller than a NYC borough — instead of sending his staffers on a secret trip to Texas," press secretary Renae Eze said in a statement.

Adams says per the article “Here in New York, we will continue to welcome asylum seekers with open arms, as we learn more about the process, meet with real partners, and see, firsthand, the reportedly inhumane conditions in which asylum seekers are being subjected to by the state of Texas.”

Why does Adams feel it is the state of Texas that is responsible for the “inhumane” conditions along the border? It is the NATIONAL BORDER and not a state border. Thus, it is the responsibility of the US Govt, not the state of TX.

Ask Adams what NY has done for the southern border conditions as they are a state just like Texas and should assume their share of the cost and condition of the facilities as well.

It is easy to claim you are a sanctuary when you are 1200 miles away.

Gov Abbott called their bluff by shortening the walk.

They will see the obvious but say something entirely different when they return. It’s not a fact-finding mission, it’s a propaganda mission.

Blue states should see these as rescues, would they really return people of color to the hell of red states?

They are NOT ‘asylum seekers.’ They are planned INVADERS.

Plan accordingly, FReepers. Coming to YOUR Hometown. If not now, soon.

Governor Abbott needs a more efficient way than buses to send the Biden migrants to the Democrat run sanctuary cities Chicago, LA, SF and NYC.

Eric Adams wants to know whether Texas is sending migrants to New York City........even if they prefer to go elsewhere.

Well, glorioski.......how could the mayor harbor such malevolent thoughts?

No migrant in his right mind would prefer any place but dear old sanctuary city NY, home of the endless freebies.

Hell yes, NYC DESERVES their fair share of the illegal immigrants being distributed across America, perhaps even more than most, as they insist on keeping the designation of “sanctuary city” and that is supposed to mean something, right?

So NYC should claim the mantle of being the “sanctuary city” they style themselves to be. Here is to more filled busses arriving daily, and all night too, if that is what it takes to establish this “equity” the city administration prides themselves on. If you talk the talk, then also walk the walk.

Eric Adams has sent a "fact-finding" delegation to the southern border…

Next he will set up a commission, or maybe write a letter telling Abbott how angry he is...

“including whether they are sending asylum seekers to New York City even if they prefer to go elsewhere”

Seems like that could be ascertained by just interviewing the people getting off the bus in NY. No need to unnecessarily expose good Texans to New Yorkers without a good reason.

“Adams has pushed back against Abbott, calling him anti-American and describing the busing of migrants as cruel, while appealing for federal help due to the pressure the migrant surge is placing on the Big Apple’s resources.”

This is an excellent example of blue state culture.

I can understand now why Texas fought so hard the first time to disassociate with the blue states in 1861.

It is possible Divine intervention will turn the blue states around. A much, much less likely scenario is that the blue states will reform themselves.

Diversity is the strength of New York City.

Help make New York City stronger - send another 5,000 buses before year's end.

I’m guessing Adams thinks he’s sending a delegation down to Texas “to set them cowboys straight”.
