As both shootings and gun sales in Philadelphia rose to unprecedented levels last year, a growing number of residents also turned their firearms over to the cityโs Police Department, data show.
In 2021, during 16 gun-buyback events โ in which people are typically offered $50 to $200 gift cards for each weapon โ 558 handguns and 188 long guns were turned in. Thatโs a 532% increase over 2019, when just five such events were held, according to police data.
Yet of the more than 1,000 weapons turned in over the last three years, not a single one has been linked to a crime.

I wonder how many derringers, black powder guns, single shot shotguns and heaps of rust they got.

Here is just some of what they do not tell you about “Gun Buy-Back” scams.
Criminals do not turn in their guns.
A great many of those foolishly giving up their guns are senior citizens and widows.
Some of those guns will belong to a spouse (Or pending Ex), who will not be happy when they realized what has been done to them.
Almost any FUNCTIONAL firearm is worth far more than $200, so those giving up their arms are certainly being ripped off.
These scams DEPEND on ignorance.
Even mediocre quality revolvers are worth around $400 or more now.
Some of the “Old junk” Three-screw Rugers and flat-top Colts are worth thousands to collectors.
Even Damascus barrel shotguns have become very valuable.
A significant portion of these guns are going to be worth over a thousand dollars each.
History shows that those guns do not get melted down, they get “Misplaced” by officers for private resale later.
And since words have meaning, it cannot be a “Buy-Back” if the government involved did not sell the gun originally.
Let’s call it what it is, leftist feel-good waste of taxpayer dollars to drive a false narrative.
I had a Jennings. Paid $110 new. The frame cracked. The moronic city of Baltimore gave me $200 for it.
Got another $100 for a single shot 16 gauge I bought for $35
What stops a guy from coming in there with a wheelbarrow full of zipguns with the spent case still in the barrel and cleaning up? Asking for a friend.
So what if they had been used in a crime? The “buy back” is no questions asked, so it’s the perfect place to get rid of a firearm.
ROTFL! Clowns.
“turned their firearms over to the cityโs Police Department”
I wonder how many stole guns and sold them to the police.

*A Biden Buck is a dollar that has been rendered nearly worthless because of democRat economic policies.
