Army Rugby!

The All Army Sports Rugby 7s Team trained at Fort Carson for two weeks leading up to the 10th Annual RugbyTown 7's Tournament, and Armed Forces Championship held in conjunction with one another at Infinity Park, Glendale, Colorado, August 19-21, 2022. Branding—Army Style!

Soldiers of the 1st Infantry Division Commanding General’s Mounted Color Guard branded pieces of leather with the official U.S. brand at the unit's 2nd Annual Branding Party at the CGMCG Stables at Fort Riley, KS, on August 16th, 2022. 1ID Soldiers and their families had the opportunity to brand their own leather as a keepsake to hold a piece of history. The United States Army has used the brand in their calvary units since 1853. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Keegan Costello, 19th Public Affairs Detachment)

Thunderbirds!!

U.S. Air Force Maj. Jake Impellizzeri, Thunderbird pilot, front, and Staff Sgt. Mud Fun!

Brown was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Mississippi Army National Guard and the National Guard of the United States upon completing OCS and attributes his successful completion of the program to the steadfast support he received from his ERDC team members.

Duck Nesting!!

Common goldeneye duck eggs rest in a nest box placed on a tree by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Chena River Lakes Flood Control Project in North Pole, Alaska. Working with park rangers at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District, field researchers track the birds’ use of the boxes to study duck nesting ecology. The data is analyzed by scientists to better understand environmental impacts on the species in its northern-most breeding habitat. (U.S. Army photo)

When You Need Help
Read: Psalm 121

My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:2

It was a Monday morning, but my friend Chia-ming wasn’t in the office. He was at home, cleaning the bathroom. A month unemployed, he thought, and no job leads. His firm had shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic and worries about the future filled Chia-ming with fear. I need to support my family, he thought. Where can I go for help?

In Psalm 121:1, the pilgrims to Jerusalem asked a similar question about where to find help. The journey to the Holy City on Mount Zion was long and potentially dangerous, with travelers enduring an arduous climb. The challenges they faced may seem like the difficult journeys we face in life today—trudging the path of illness, relationship problems, bereavement, stress at work or, as in the case of Chia-ming, financial difficulty and unemployment.

But we can take heart in the truth that the Maker of heaven and earth Himself helps us (v. 2). He watches over our lives (vv. 3, 5, 7–8) and He knows what we need. Shamar, the Hebrew word for “watches over,” means “to guard.” The Creator of the universe is our guardian. We’re in His safekeeping. “God took care of me and my family,” Chia-ming shared recently. “And at the right time, He provided a teaching job.”

As we trust and obey God, we can look ahead with hope, knowing we’re within the protective boundaries of His wisdom and love.Karen Huang

What kind of help do you need from God today? How does knowing He’s the Maker of heaven and earth encourage you?

Father, thank You for being my source of help on my life’s journey.

Bible in a year: Psalm 119:1–88; 1 Corinthians 7:20–40

WOOHOO...you were quick tonight. How are you fixed for rainy weather?

It’s been sprinkling off and on all day...street gets wet, street dries out, street gets wet, street dries out, and repeat.

Hey there, Kathy.

No rain for us the past few days but it’s been cloudy. That’s been a plus since it kept our temperature down to mid 80s. Just north of us has had sunshine and low 90s.

Y’all needed rain but it needs to move out! They can’t fix the live stream camera at Lake Hood until it’s dry enough to go up on the tower to work on it. :-(

Hey there, radu!

It IS still comfy and the kitties aren’t the only ones happy right now. Everyone here is. We want more rain, of course, but that’s up to God. :)

How are things there? Temps still low enough to keep the humidity from being too uncomfortable?

A break from the insanity has arrived for this evening!! It is so welcome...

Thursdays are always a zoo...I have to go into the office to print and mail paychecks. Then off to my massage and chiro and home to an icepack. LOL!

Tomatoes FINALLY beginning!

Not hard to imagine how happy everyone is for the break. We’re happy for ours and it hasn’t been quite as hot here as it has there.

Muggy here but the temps have been kept down by clouds. The front that came through Sunday stalled over us and kept all the rain from that big system well south of us. But the northern edge of the clouds from that system have been sitting on top of us the past three days. That’s ending, though, since the system is moving east and we’re now out from under the clouds. 90s are in store for us the next week. *sigh*
