HARRISBURG — State Rep. Dan Frankel has become the latest target of antisemitic threats on the same social media platform used by the man who is charged with the murder of 11 Jews in 2018 at the Tree of Life synagogue in Squirrel Hill — the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history.
Mr. Frankel, D-Squirrel Hill, has become the subject of threats and derogatory comments on Gab. Gab is widely viewed as a platform used by white nationalists and other far-right extremists. The suspect in the 2018 Tree of Life attack used the site to post neo-Nazi propaganda and to call for violence against Jews.
The threats against Mr. Frankel, first reported by the Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, began to surface on Gab after Mr. Frankel participated in several press conferences last month to criticize state Sen. Doug Mastriano’s usage of the platform as part of his campaign for governor. A member of Mr. Frankel’s staff discovered the posts recently as part of a search of the site, Mr. Frankel said.
“I’m certainly not unique,” Mr. Frankel said. “Clearly, this website has been a platform for spreading hatred, particularly antisemitism, for years.”
Mr. Mastriano received criticism last month for his campaign’s payment of $5,000 to Gab for “consulting fees,” according to campaign finance records. As part of this payment, all new accounts on the platform would automatically follow Mr. Mastriano. Mr. Mastriano is the GOP gubernatorial nominee. His Democratic opponent is state Attorney General Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish.
Following weeks of criticism, Mr. Mastriano quietly closed his Gab account and said he rejected “anti-Semitism in any form,” according to his July 28 statement.

See my previous.
There are * everywhere.
And what was the “threat”?
Thanks.
That kind of mindset is how we got Hitler’s Germany.
I won’t stand by and watch it. I know where it leads.
That’s ridiculous.
Enjoy the safe spaces as you find them.
You misinterpreted what I stated.
The people making antisemitic comments are the problematic
people.
That’s how we got Hitler’s Germany.
Evil speech is protected speech too.
There were a lot more issues that created Hitler’s Germany, but that’s right up there at the top.
Weiner Germany was perhaps the first appearance of people supporting transgenderism, for example.
Back to the issue, I find Gab useful despite the presence of some unsavory elements using it. They’re easy enough to suppress.
Autocowrecked!
Weimar
Well of course. The economic issues and bitterness over the
agreements forced on Germany after WWI were prominent.
I’m simply addressing the part where antisemites became a
large enough segment of the populace, that the German
leadership could get away with the actions they pulled.
It’s not quite as easy as saying ‘freedom of speech’ should
cover folks like this too. Openly allowing racism leads
to other very unfortunate events.
I haven’t been there to GAB, so I’m not the person to
judge. I have addressed what I think of antisemitism.
Thanks...
The Pgh P-G is particularly loathsome, no?
Their Pirates reporter is pretty good.
The suspect also breathed air. You know who else breathed air ??? Hitler !!!
I rest my case..... (Evil grin)
The Teflon of Yahweh.
Gab did have a topic/section called Israel early on, when I joined, and that topic was riddled with some of the most vile anti-semitic filth you could see.
I had to be quite careful about who I followed in those days. Fortunately, the morons have been diluted by all the Trumpers who came over after Twitter banned POTUS45 and Parler was temporarily axed by AWS.
And the Interstate Highway System was modeled after Hitler’s Autobahns, which impressed Eisenhower a great deal after WWII. All those roads must be boycotted, as well as all Volkswagens (Hitler’s “People’s Car”).
Not specified. Of course.
Eh, I keep subscribing to it. They occasionally have columns by actual conservatives, not just David Brooksian Repubicans. And they reluctantly endorsed Trump in the 2020 Election.
It may resemble fishwrap, but there is at least some hope for this particular paper.
Just think of it: the PPG is likely better than the Washington Pest, The Baltimore “Blight For All” Sun and numerous Florida newspapers.
Twitter allows hard-core porn. I get tons of DMs from chicks asking me to visit their website and crap.
