I vaguely recall it was a thing back in the day (like 60 years ago or so?) proud parents would take a photo of the baby on the bearskin rug by the fireplace.

It is VERY hard to turn off all this auto-Cloud backup stuff. Sometimes an OS update (undesired) can undo many key settings.
I tried to move over to a Linux OS phone (PinePhone), but the OS is still in Beta and shows it. It is quite slow, and advice on the web for finding a provider can be out of date, so finding a cell provider that doesn’t lock you into a fat contract can be challenging.
So, I cannot recommend the Linux phone at this time. Back to iOS.

As I read it, they didn’t.
Terms of service for the “free” gmail says they read ALL of your content in emails. Thats a big Nope for me.
That said, I do have a gmail account but only use if for verification emails and such.
The world has changed the truth is there have been sexual harms to done to real people in general and children in particular.
Everyone is shouting “pedophile” nowadays.
Politicians and governments end up being driven by the same emotional mob that would take away people’s guns when someone smoking weed kills a lot of people in a school (Uvalde).
And we end up with situations like this.
Nudity should be more private than public IMHO.
It’s possible to be around other folks naked in theory and some folks have done that through the generations.
G-d as I understand the Higher Power doesn’t want us to get aroused by other people’s bodies other than the one’s we choose to marry.
I grew up being “molested” in uncomfortable situations too and heck it takes maturity to deal with nudity.
And “maturity” is that last thing we have in the current world that we live in.

There are tons of apps for nextcloud including integrated calendars, files, email. I have a desktop sync client and a special nextcloud folder on my PC. Anything I drop in the folder gets synced to my web installation. (and I run Linux)
I sure as hell wouldn’t trust Google with pics of my children. How many pervs are there at Google?

A bit of overreach but in the long run....if it catches more pedophiles and criminals then so be it.
Until Google changes it’s policy on “What Is Obsene?”,
Doctors and their Nurses need to stop asking parents to send such photos to them online. Yes, it saves time, but meanwhile, these parents are being inadvertantly set up for suspicion and at times, arrest.
