Hmmm: FBI returns Trump passports that never appeared on search inventory

That brings us to the second question: Why weren’t the passports listed on the inventory? FBI agents certainly know what passports look like. The inventory is a legal record of everything the FBI took out of Trump’s home in executing the search. There may be some understandable fuzziness on the identity of each and every single sheet of paper in those boxes, but passports are unique and instantly recognizable — and look nothing like the documents in question.

Yes, but laws don’t matter when the government refuses to enforce them against itself.

The New York Times described him as “the agricultural visionary who all but single-handedly revolutionized the American popcorn industry.”

I’m hoping Trump’s people had enough sense to sequentially number the documents, so if there is a gap it can be identified.

I doubt it. I haven’t been overly impressed with his choice of legal representation.

The FBI did spend a lot of time rifling through Trumps MAL office.

The passports were deliberately collected as an intimidation tactic

Yes, they didn't take any computers because all they had to do was to copy everything. Probably inserted some spy code so that his communications would all be forwarded to them, too. We all know it doesn't take 9-plus hours to pick up 15 boxes in one storage area.

I can’t imagine Trump leaving any computers behind when he travels. I sure wouldn’t.

Trump should get whatever the Stasi is willing to give back immediately, then file a federal suit for the rest. At minimum there should be an independent Special Master to decide what documents are potentially classified, and to make a comprehensive, real inventory. You can bet the FBI has already made copies of everything and intends to keep them, but Trump’s suit should include a requirement that all copies and digital images/files be destroyed.

Trump may have kept the passports in a specific place separate from the notorious boxes. Since the FBI didn't list it on the raid inventory I'm guessing the Trumps saw the FBI rifling through this spot on the security tape, checked to see if they were indeed missing, and then made the announcement.

The FBI didn't anticipate that missile coming at them.

Thank you for the description of what a professional, LE search and inventory are like.

The Mar a Lago was ridiculous - it sounds like they got a cart from a mail room and just went along throwing stuff into it.

Shouldn’t be a problem, I have older DVR surveillance equipment and cameras than Trump has.

Mine record 24/7 then starts to record over what it already recorded every month.

So it’s a constant loop of recording.

I can watch them anywhere in the World, from any device.

If something happens, I can grab that footage and save it, copy it, make a DVD.

Better check everything returned for tracking chips. The FBI has become untrustworthy, which is a sad development for America.

More so, when going country-to-country outside the USA. You get a tired guy who looks and puts a rubber stamp on it.

If the process is that sloppy, perhaps the FBI was looking for stamps indicating that Trump had visited Russia to collude with his pal Putin.

Or perhaps the FBI wanted to add some stamps of their own.

Unlikely, I know, but these days it is hard to know what is beyond the FBI.
