California governor proposes extending nuclear plant’s life

LOS ANGELES (AP) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday proposed extending the life of the state’s last operating nuclear power plant by at least five to 10 years to maintain reliable power supplies in the climate change era.

A draft bill obtained by The Associated Press said the plan would allow the plant to continue operating beyond a scheduled closing by 2025.

The draft proposal also includes a possible loan for operator Pacific Gas & Electric for up to $1.4 billion.

The proposal was confirmed by Newsom spokesman Anthony York. The bill says impacts of climate change are occurring sooner than anticipated and are simultaneously driving up electrical demand while reducing power supplies.

“The governor has been clear for months about the potential need to extend the life of Diablo Canyon,” York said. He added that Newsom’s administration has stressed the need to keep all options on the table to maintain reliable power and that “this proposal reflects the continued need to keep that flexibility.”

The proposal said the continued operation of the Diablo Canyon plant beyond 2025 is “critical to ensure statewide energy system reliability.”

It we shorten one DemocRAT politician life (nonproductive putrescence) for each year of life we give back to a nuclear (productive thing) plant, we gain double.

Hey Gavin, you moron, build a few more. You can’t power the state as it is and with more illegals and EV cars, you need more electricity generating facilities.

Gavin Newsom is the poster boy for, “You can’t fix stupid.”

Well, even a blind squirrel with great hair finds an occasional nut. Now, governor Newsom, build some more of them as well. Also hydropower and natgas, along with the solar and wind, will hopefully be suitable to the fruits, nuts and flakes who dominate your state’s politics.

(I’m “all of the above,” including coal and oil, but I’m sure the FNF crowd in SF, LA and ‘Mental would find those two icky-poo.)

That fessing up part might have been sparked by the mess the Krautz find themselves in after going non-nuke. There is absolutely nothing about a nuke plant that keeps one from being maintained and used doggone near forever.

California is getting desperate.

And Noosome is getting desperate.

Sounding a little logical - upcoming elections - trying to normalize the Dem party - position himself as aware and responsive.

Probably will compensate with a trip to his winery.

Useless Newsom should announce that the plant staff will, from now on, only be hypertrans individuals, and the energy produced will therefore be ‘okay.’

Newsome also talked about building more desalination facilities because they are running out of clean water. If he done that rather than built a train to nowhere, they would have had a few desalination plants online years ago.

This bozo is running in 2024. He’s trying to get his moderate creds up.

But, but, but, ‘green energy’ is supposed to be the solution to EVERYTHING! Since when is nuclear power ‘green’? At least according to the left.

Ah, but I forgot. The left will merely change the definition of ‘green energy’, like they did for the words ‘vaccination’ and ‘recession’.

I wish I had shares in Webster’s Dictionary because they’re going to have to do reprints with the ‘correct’ meanings of such words!

Rope sales must be way up in California and Newsom doesn’t want to strung up on a wind turbine

That nutless squirrel you’re talking about will have to quit dumping his hydro water down sucker creek to keep non-existent frogs alive, but, yeah, they really do need to beef up hydropower.

Note 14 below——they’re running out of clean water mostly because they’re using it to wash frogs. It still snows in the Sierras——they just pizz the water away.
