Anne Heche won't spend 'any significant time' in jail for fiery crash, expert says

Anne Heche likely won't spend "any significant time" in jail after she crashed her car into a home in Los Angeles on Friday.

Heche, 53, will most likely be charged with hit-and-run along with reckless driving, a legal expert told Fox News Digital. Former U.S. Attorney Neama Rahmani explained the actress would only receive misdemeanor charges since she didn't cause any bodily injuries to anyone involved in the crashes.

The actress crashed her Mini Cooper twice on Friday, with the second crash igniting a fire that left a home destroyed in the Mar Vista neighborhood. Heche suffered burn injuries, but was "conscious and breathing" when paramedics removed her from the vehicle.

Heche could receive up to six months in jail for the hit-and-run charge alone, with up to 90 days for the reckless driving charge, Rahmani told Fox News Digital.

Attorney Arie Shamuilian of My Rights Law Group told Fox News Digital it's likely that Heche will spend time in jail for the crash.

"In this case, there's other video depicting her vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and crashing into the building," Shamuilian explained. "I anticipate there could potentially be custody time with this case, given the circumstantial evidence shows her level of recklessness was pretty high here."

If a toxicology report were to confirm Heche had been driving under the influence, she could be charged with a misdemeanor DUI. For that charge, Rahmani explained, the actress could be punished with up to six months in jail.

The second of her crashes was two or three blocks from an elementary school.

Note to parents in that neck of the woods.

The fine print in the law stipulates if you are relatively famous that has an active network of influences in the biz and possess resources to afford illustrious attorneys then the law will bend in certain ways. Exceptions are 1st degree
murder *convictions* but even then they will accommodate living arrangements.

Destroying all of a family's possessions with a car in a drunken rampage apparently only merits misdemeanor charges. Hopefully Heche gets taken to the cleaners in the inevitable lawsuit.

It gets better than that though.

It is a bare minimum of 1 year to get building permits and will cost them at least $100K just to get thru the paperwork. Then another 3 years minimum for the repairs and the mandatory upgrades to come up to current codes will cost them MILLIONS!!!

This is assuming they even get a building permit, I doubt they will get through the process

They will probably have to sell the lot. They may never be able to afford again. She may have consigned them to a permanently lower class.

If someone destroyed your house, and everything in it, you don’t think that person should go to prison/jail? People are imprisoned for stealing far less than she did. You sound like a progressive DA.

She shouldn’t be charged more than Paul Pelosi
he hit another car and probably caused injuries
to the other driver.

Pelosi got off because he is an Elite

As for Jossie and Alec hopefully they will
get convicted and serve jail time.

I dont see how that is possible. They took a long time to get her out of a burning car. Her life is wrecked now. I feel sorry for her children.
Although, here are the two women leaving the son's house

She probably WON’T be!!

Nevermind the part where she caused a family’s home to completely burn...with all of their lifelong possessions inside...all because their house got in her way.

Right, Paul??

Alcoholism is a terrible thing.
I quit drinking with the support of AA and it changed my life much for the better.

“Why in god’s name would she spend ANY time in jail for this?”

Because she broke the law....probably several and blood toxicology is still pending that could reveal alcohol or other illegal substances.

Does that answer your question?

How is this a surprise when it was quickly hushed up when BRUCE Jenner killed a woman by driving too fast and texting. Didn’t serve a day in jail.
