"Alarming": GOP quietly funnels millions into Democratic primaries to wipe out progressives

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) has spent more than $24 million to defeat progressive candidates in this year's Democratic primaries.

The United Democracy Project (UDP), an AIPAC-affiliated super PAC, has already spent $24.2 million on Democratic primaries this cycle, including millions that it raised from top Republican megadonors like Paul Singer and Bernard Marcus. The money has helped AIPAC-backed candidates wipe out progressives in primaries in Michigan, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, California and Ohio.

UDP and other pro-Israel groups tied to AIPAC – Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI), Urban Empowerment Action PAC and Pro-Israel America PAC — spent more than $10 million combined in three Michigan primaries, The Intercept reported, to defeat progressive candidates, including last week's loss for Rep. Andy Levin, D-Mich., who has been called the most progressive Jewish member of the House.

"I'm really Jewish," Levin, a former synagogue president, told MSNBC last week. "But AIPAC can't stand the idea that I am the clearest, strongest Jewish voice in Congress standing for a simple proposition: that there is no way to have a secure, democratic homeland for the Jewish people unless we achieve the political and human rights of the Palestinian people."

UDP spent more than $4 million on ads opposing Levin and backing his opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., after they both opted to run in the state's 11th District following redistricting. Stevens on Tuesday defeated Levin, 60-40.

Last week there were stories everywhere about the dems supporting the “Trumpiest” candidates in the GOP primaries. The stories were all framed as to whether or not this was a good strategy for the Dems.

So, this week it appears the articles are going to be how the right is interfering in the dem elections by supporting the most progressive candidate, and how evil the right is in doing so.

You can see this in the way that they pretty much all vote for whatever Pelosi puts forward in the House and there are only 2 Democrats in the Senate who ever push back against any of the insane far Left proposals Schumer puts forward.

Bela Abzug. I have not thought of her in years. She was an extreme communist Marxist, back in the day when the FBI actually kept people like that under surveillance and not promote them to head the Bureau. The biggest problem is she would be considered a moderate today.

It’s wasted money but the GOPe are dumb as rocks. For the rats a 1 vote majority is as good as a a 200 vote majority as we will see this week when the rat House votes to bring in a army 87,000 IRS goons.

Nothing remains of the old extreme Left that is extreme to the Left anymore.

And with their insists ce they aren’t the ones who have gone into wierdo land a “moderate” would now include McGovern if not outright socialists. They call the Clintons right of center.

That’s why so much looks far right to them.

Remember the marching band in Animal House that is led into a sharp left turn into a blind alley where, even though bunched up at the end, they are still playing? Well, the Democrats are like that band. Only where the band is merely trying to play the Left now angrily accuses anyone not in the dead end alley with them, people still on the street where parades are supposed to happen, of being the far right.

Twenty four million? ROTFLMAO! Chump change compared to what the far left Hollywood elistists and the communist/Nazi RAT billionaires are pouring into the RAT party to overrun American candidates.

We shouldn’t do it just because the Democrats do it. This game playing postpones the best solution: outlawing open primaries.

It's not wrong when they do it, though...

Actually, this is the Uniparty at work. Neither side wants its populist voices to lead. They want the establishment criminals in charge.

A real headline of a party wanting to win would be Republicans funnel money into progressive campaigns. Cuz leftist whackadoodles will lose most of the time.

I like Bernie Marcus. I got to meet him once at a company function. A very nice person.

Looks more like pro-Israel groups trying to keep anti-Israel / anti-Semitic candidates from being able to take office from the article. Headline is designed to portray a different message.

As usual, it is best to read more than the headline.

I disagree, Leftist whackadoodles are leading their party at every level and are very electable by Democrats. And apparently by the nation at large, Sanders almost won the nomination if his own party didn't sink him.

AIPAC is not pro-American group. Their goal is a ‘Jewish’ version of America’s sick perverted mass media culture. Don’t be fooled.

This is a Jewish organization, and they are interested in protecting Israel. “Progressives” are wildly opposed to this, so I don’t see anything nefarious about these donors “funneling” money into the campaigning against them.

Please tell me the ‘Rats don’t do the same thing to interfere with Republican politics. FJB.

Of course they do, they pioneered the tactic. Where do you think all the money is coming from to try & keep Liz Cheney in office in Wyoming? Dick Cheney’s ad attacking Trump was probably paid by Dems as are all the ads attacking her opponent.
