Turley Proposes Red State Alliance Against Blue State Boycotts
Breitbart ^ | 08.07.2022 | Joel B. Pollak

Constitutional law scholar Jonathan Turley of George Washington University Law School has proposed an alliance among conservative “red” states to engage in counter-boycotts against any liberal “blue” state, such as California, that boycotts first.

The proposal is a response to efforts by blue states to ban state-funded travel to red states that enact conservative laws on issues such as transgender bathrooms in school, biological men participating in women’s sports, and restrictions on abortion.

California, for example, currently bans state-funded travel to 22 states. While such bans are difficult to enforce — indeed. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) of California recently violated his state’s ban on travel to Idaho — they do have an effect, because they can coerce private companies into following the blue states’ lead. Red states are then forced to obey the whims of corporations — and not the democratic will of their own voters — in making their laws more liberal than they otherwise would have been.

I understand that conservatives want to live peacefully. Problem is, that leftists are going to keep pushing until they are confronted.

I'm in 100% and will never spend a minute or dollar in NY, CA, or IL until leadership improves. My next vacation will be in my home state of Florida.

Well, I gave up CA wines. I am sure they will not miss my couple bottles a week but hey...its something.

We are being beaten slowly by more insidious acts such as differential prosecutions under the “law”. It is creeping into every court system and means we are not equal before the law.

That is going to force a more radical response, imho.

Most of NYS’s counties are MAGA red, Turley.

And NYS is supposedly a blue state.

And if NYC is so reliably lib, why did Deep State shove RCV down its voters’ throats for mayoral contests?

And NYS is not alone.

Your idea is silly.

If we don’t grow some elbows and push back, conservatives in 2050 will be the same as liberals today.
It’s not just the liberals going left. Everyone is going left. There are conservatives today who are completely reconciled to leftist modifications of the culture. Taxes, school prayer bans, euthanasia, lockdowns, mandatory vaccination, marriage laws, welfare, socialized medicine, firearms laws, public schooling, abortion...
We just keep adjusting, looking the other way, adapting — and coming to a boil.

Somebody needs to secede. I say it should be the big cities. Make themselves city states. NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, can all go over the side as far as I’m concerned.

I think Prof. Turley’s idea is well worth implementing.

However I still think a D I V O R C E would be a better idea.
I, for one and I am sure there are millions of others, would love to live in a Republic once again before I die.

I think you’re mischaracterizing what is happening here. You start by aggregating a lot of things into a group of issues that simply don’t belong together. Conservatives have “surrendered” on things like school prayer and gay marriage not because they’ve accepted them, but because they’ve lost all faith in their government.

This is why things like vaccine mandates and gun control don’t belong on your list. A real conservative may not give a sh!t about crappy government schools* and the lunacy that passes for marriage laws in this country, but when it comes to personal protection and liberty we will often make a stand.

* Full disclosure: If a government school in many U.S. jurisdictions was burning to the ground, I’d barely be motivated to pick up my phone and call 911.

Oh, nose! California won’t fund travel to Georgia! So if the Devil wants to look for a soul to steal, he’ll fall further behind, and have to make a deal with Greyhound! Oh, the humanity!

Enh. I’d say travel to blue states in the most red-necky costumes you can manage: Straw hats, overalls, corn cob pipes, and if you don’t have a drawl of your own, borrow one from Hee Haw re-runs. Parade around Mid-town Manhattan asking for directions, getting slack-jawed over the big fancy buildings, and all them purty lights. And get in everyone’s way.

If in Frisco, ask for directions to Nancy Pelosi’s mansion and complain loudly about the ubiquitous piles of human feces.

Red states need to start forming and training their own infantry regiments. Wake me when that starts.

We’ve been kinda doing this for years . Generally we vacation in states like Wyoming Montana etc. My wife wants to visit some of the historical sites as in the Northeast but I’m resisting it. I feel states like Massachusetts desecrate our history.

I like living in Florida too. Thanks for highlighting it! It’s OK to leave the State by cruising & it’s great to have a number of ports like Cape Canaveral, Fort Lauderdale and Miami. Of the few negatives I avoid Disney in all aspects!

Why don’t you start it? And why just red-states? Upstate New Yorkers and Virginians, as well as Eastern Californians, Washingtonians and Oregonians might just want to throw off the shackles of their bondage, too.

If your state is blue then you are in enemy territory. Move. Or become a pawn of the blue state thug government.
