Never been to the Orlando nightlife district. Are shootings the norm?

Another spirited dispute over the nature of Kant’s Categorical Imperative, I’ll wager.

My impression is that they most often occur in Paramore, a section of Orlando with a concentration of a certain ethnicity. Of course there was the mass shooting in the Pulse gay night club six years ago which was south of downtown, but that was an anomaly by any standard.

West/South of Downtown can be trouble, but Downtown is usually pretty tame.

“Are shootings the norm?”

Put it this way, one night when there was no gunfire, the residents woke up and said, “What was that?”

Well, “the Pulse” mass murder was there.

I passed right next to the place, accidentally in 2017 while on vacation, trying to evade traffic. Covered in tributes by “artists” and flowers, et.

Another spirited dispute over the nature of Kant’s Categorical Imperative, I’ll wager.

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant
Who was very rarely stable

Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar
Who could think you under the table

David Hume could out-consume
Wilhelm Freidrich Hegel

And Wittgenstein was a beery swine
Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel

There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach ya
'bout the raising of the wrist
Socrates, himself, was permanently pissed

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill

Plato, they say, could stick it away
Half a crate of whiskey every day

Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle
Hobbes was fond of his dram

And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart
"I drink, therefore I am."

Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed
A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed

Homosexual bar/venue? Orange Blossom trail?

Muslims don’t like gay bars in Orlando for some reason.

Apparently not:

“witness William Solomon told News 6. “If it happened in the heart of downtown, I don’t know if anything is safe nowadays.”

Last time I drove through Orlando, FL and that was several years ago, no one I tried to talk to spoke any kind of recognizable English. The closest anyone came to it was a Jamaican cab driver. In 1993 Orlando was a very nice city. Time and politics have not been kind to it.

“I Love The Night Life (Disco ‘Round)”

Oh, I love the nightlife
I’ve got to boogie
On the disco ‘round, oh yeah

Oh, I love the nightlife
I’ve got to boogie
On the disco ‘round, oh yeah

Please don’t talk about love tonight
Please don’t talk about sweet love
Please don’t talk about begin true
And all the trouble we’ve been through

Ah, please don’t talk about all of the plans we had
For fixin’ this broken romance
I want to go where the people dance
I want some action, I want to live!

Action, I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

Ohoho, I
Oh, I love the nightlife
I’ve got to boogie
On the disco ‘round, oh yeah

Oh, I love the nightlife
I’ve got to boogie
On the disco ‘round, oh yeah

Please don’t talk about love tonight
Your sweet talking won’t make it right
Love and lies just bring me down
When you’ve got women all over town

You can love them all and when you’re through
Maybe that’ll make, huh, a man out of you
I got to go where the people dance
I want some action, I want to live!

Action, I got so much to give
I want to give it
I want to get some too

Ohoho, I
Oh, I love the nightlife
I’ve got to boogie
On the disco ‘round, oh yeah

Oh, I love the nightlife
I’ve got to boogie
On the disco ‘round, oh yeah

Time and politics have not been kind to it.

It seems helpful to put a sharper point on it: "Time and open borders have not been kind to it."

The creeping Disney corruption has much to do with it.

When I was in college, that area was called Church Street Station and the place to go was Rosie O'Grady's Funtime Emporium.

To be fair, a generation ago anyone could come from PR, Bahamas, Jamaica, or even Haiti and immediately find a job in the massive entertainment industry, so it was like immigration in earlier times.

Today, the growth in metro Orlando is to the northeast, furthest away from the theme parks and hotels; the tourists and the jobs are fewer, but the massive influx from PR after Maria never got fully digested, and of course every job going to a Caribbeaner is one less for the indigenous blacks.

Disney world is a good 20 miles from downtown Orlando.

As for the shooting, it was 2am and the bars were closing. From the video I saw it was mostly blacks running away. Like 95% blacks. Not anything wrong with that of course, but there is a huge presence of LE so it’s bafflingly they haven’t caught anyone.

This follows a midday shooting on the 408 toll road WHILE traveling. The victim was shot while driving, hit a tree and died. They haven’t caught that guy yet either, even though there are cameras all over that road.
