A San Francisco law allowing non-citizen parents to vote in local elections was struck down Friday by a judge who said it violates both the state constitution and state statutes.
San Francisco Superior Court Judge Richard Ulmer ruled a 2016 ordinance that gave voting rights to non-citizen parents “cannot stand.” The ordinance allowed green card holders, work visa holders and undocumented immigrants to vote in school district elections. Ulmer also issued a permanent injunction that bars the city from allowing non-citizens to vote in the future.
A month ago, a judge struck down a New York City law that allowed non-citizens to vote in local elections because it violated the state constitution.

I hope there are contingency plans in place in case the a-holes running these cities simply ignore these rulings.

That doesn't mean the voter rolls will be cleaned up before the next ballot, though.

I’m shocked the judge is upholding the law.
To: aimhigh
Statutes put on limitations.
And yet there is resistance to requiring a picture ID and proof of citizenship to acquire the right to vote.

What kind of democracy is this if illegal aliens aren’t allowed to vote?

But don’t worry no one’s trying to replace American citizens.

Since when did non-citizens need a law to let them vote here?

Obeying the constitution is anti-democratic! And it's racist!

Any election in which non-citizens voted is invalid and the results must be nullified.

Another example of government officials violating a local, state or federal constitution or law with no apparent penalty or punishment.
Occasionally we stop them, but despite their oath of office they suffer no cost. Why wouldn't they keep trying to reshape our culture as their actions indicate? (/end of rant)

How could you people in SF even allow this law to get onto the books?

There is no way to get the folks already registered off the voter rolls. That will be another half decade of litigation.
