Video only link - multiple security camera angles, body cams, etc.
I’m curious about her accomplice who dropped her off and who got out of the car when she did. Or was he an Über driver?
Tense situation for the first officer. It looks like he put a bullet through the screen of the kiosk right in front of him (6:53 in the video at the link in Post 2).
I mean, if that’s the only target presented... well...
Actually, the counters are a bit more sturdy than that (I know the millwork company that made them) but the initial officer was caught out in an area that only offers concealment and not cover, with the possible and extremely dubious exception of the metal check-in computer kiosks. Needs must and all that.
Yes and no. The shooter was a known mentally ill person who was adjudicated as incompetent to stand trial by a county judge last year. Said judge also stated that the woman was not a danger to herself or others and released her in 2021 on condition that she attend inpatient and outpatient mental treatment. She stopped going.
Three guesses which party the judge is with. First two don’t count.
Over and above the usual stress (and the fact that he was caught out in the open) there had to be additional pressure to not let this become another Uvalde scenario.
As for the kiosk, he was tracking a moving target at a not-great angle. I’d say the kiosk was an acceptable if regrettable casualty considering how it turned out.
Haven’t seen any information on that presented. I’d say it’s a reasonably high chance that it’s a rideshare driver as DPD would likely have jumped on that right away and hauled them in if they weren’t a rideshare or something like that.
He was also surprised and caught in the open; didn’t know if she had any ‘friends’. The first may be department policy, I don’t know. The second - I wouldn’t have closed either, because that would pin me against a wall, I have no backup on scene yet and I don’t know if there’s only the one shooter.
“dumbazz waited till she pointed at him...
and he dint close while mag dumping her”
I agree. When you shoot somebody in an isolated, unpopulated area, wait for back up to approach. No problem. In this situation, with people all around, he should have been closing and shooting, then disarmed her.
LOLOL!!!
her friends will let you know they are there if you close or stand still
a moving target is harder to hit...
yup
Whereas moving in would decrease useful field of view. There’s arguments to be made both ways.
Let's just say recruiting standards have declined and retention standards are now "whatever", let's just keep them.
true
Imagine that...
A cop that didn’t run.
Uvalde should get his resume.
Shocked at the number of folks who violated TSA regulations and left their luggage unattended. /s
Sarcasm aside, afterwards the TSA reportedly screened all the luggage as if it had been left unattended... which is part of why it took so long to get people through security.
That makes a lot of sense, that she is just mentally ill. Lots of it going around right now. MK Ultra will not be denied.
Dunno about that - this lady was nuts before the COVID-19 lockdown, but lots of people went nuts because of the lockdown/’quarantine’.
Prior to that, the percentage of people that were diagnosed/adjudicated as mentally ill were more or less stable, but the issue is that 1) We closed the mental institutions and therefore people that would have been inmates are now wandering around among the rest of us and therefore are more visible, and 2) There’s more people now than before. The same percentage of far more people means that there will be more mentally ill individuals, period. That’s before you even consider anything like MK Ultra.
