LOS ANGELES (AP) — Nick Barragan is used to wearing a mask because his job in the Hollywood film industry has long required it. So he won't be fazed if the county that's home to Tinseltown soon becomes the first major population center this summer to reinstate rules requiring face coverings indoors because of another spike in coronavirus cases.
“I feel fine about it because I’ve worn one pretty much constantly for the last few years. It’s become a habit,” said Barragan, masked up while out running errands Wednesday.
Los Angeles is the most populous county, home to 10 million residents. It faces a return to a broad indoor mask mandate on July 29 if current trends in hospital admissions continue, county health Director Barbara Ferrer said this week

“Remember when America was a Free Country...”
That was another country, the one I grew up in and served in it’s military.
Not really where I live. People generally went along with the “two weeks to flatten the curve” nonsense. After that, there was quite a lot of resistance.
I never wore a mask anywhere, even during our state’s brief (and misguided) mandate. I only had someone mention it once: a little mask nazi at a convenience store.
I just walked out without a word.
I have no beef against mask wearers. Those poor souls do not know that mask does NOT protect them. Masks only help reduce (not prevent) your infection passed on to others.
I am glad you will not show up on any of my next 3 booked cruises.
Are people of LA really compliant enough to go through that nonsense again?
I live in the very liberal Philadelphia suburbs but I really doubt anyone around here will cooperate with mandates again.
Sure, there would be a bunch of mask-wearing Karens giving everybody dirty looks - but I don’t think businesses will shut down or enforce anything.
But Fauci’s 15 minutes of fame seems to be pretty much over - he just can’t explain why none of his anti Covid measures made any difference - except in destroying the economy.
Frankly, I don’t even think the Democrat governors and mayors around here that mandated the lockdowns last time are interested in going down that road again. They know they are political toast if they try it.
Maybe LA is different.
Do their homeless crap in the streets and sidewalks and grocery store like in San Francisco?
Could be a health risk?
Very apt.
They might be able to push masks again in places like California (I think a lot of them *like* to wear the nasty things) but the free states haven’t gone in for that in a long time.
I didn’t strap a piece of dirty laundry (which is what it becomes after 20-30 minutes) to my face the first time around. I’m sure as heck not going to do it now or in the future.
Doctor’s offices and hospitals are about the only place I see
them any longer.
People are tired of it.
Sounds like North Idaho is my kinda place. “2%”?! Where I live in VA it’s more like 30-40%.
I saw the vast majority of people wearing them where I was.
I’m just as glad, if not more.
I don’t want to be around a bunch of dumbass sheep with nasty pieces of cloth strapped to their faces. Eww.
My friends and I take better vacations than cruises and they’re more intelligent company than Covidiots.
I won’t be going to California. More than likely for the rest of my life. I have NO business in california.
I still see people driving in their car wearing a mask in the middle of summer. How do you not think to yourself does this make any sense? Covid did expose who the sheep are society if nothing else.
LOL....aw, c’mon, man.....you know you love the warmed over carp they serve on these floating petri dishes!
Can you just picture the masked cruisers, shuffling all about....playing shuffleboard and lining up for that buffet line?
🤮
Still?
My BFF from high school (like a sister) and sister and brother-in-law up there have been after me to visit, but I keep telling them not until the face diapers are going away.
They don’t wear them, but they’ve told me a lot of people there still do.
There is a huge regional difference. Here in Houston, I haven’t seen a mask wearer for months. In Los Angeles or the Bay area, it’s always been a different story.
Another ballot-stuffing season must be approaching. Expect this in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Georgia again.
Asian influence on the west coast?
L.A. can phu cough!
