U.S. Soldiers with the 228th Engineer Company, 337th Engineer Battalion, 55th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, arrive home after a nine-month deployment to the Middle East. They arrived at Harrisburg International Airport and were driven to Fort Indiantown Gap where they were reunited with their loved ones. They were also greeted by senior Pennsylvania National Guard leaders including Maj. Gen. Mark McCormack, commander of the 28th Infantry Division, and Brig. Gen. Laura McHugh, Deputy Adjutant General-Army.

Training Tomorrow’s Youth!!!

EDUCATING OUR YOUTH: More than 25 teenagers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ada County, Idaho, toured Gowen Field as part of their out-of-school program to learn more about the Idaho Army National Guard's equipment and missions on July 8.During the day, teens visited with the Idaho National Guard's 204th Regional Training Institute, where they enjoyed learning about and climbing around on some of the organization's tanks, Bradley Fighting Vehicles, Heavy Equipment Transporters and trailers.Later, the group visited with the Idaho Army National Guard's State Aviation Group, where they got to interact with some of its rotary wing pilots and crew chiefs. To end the day, they climbed around several UH-60 Black Hawks and felt what it's like to sit behind the helicopter's steering system.

Flexing Faith Muscles

Read: Psalm 46

Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10

During a trip to the zoo, I stopped to rest near the sloth exhibit. The creature hung upside down. He seemed content being completely still. I sighed. Because of my health issues, I struggled with stillness and desperately wanted to move forward, to do something—anything. Resenting my limitations, I longed to stop feeling so weak. But while staring at the sloth, I observed how he stretched one arm, gripped a nearby branch, and stopped again. Being still required strength. If I wanted to be content with moving slowly or being as still as the sloth, I needed more than incredible muscle power. To trust God with every dragging moment of my life, I needed supernatural power.

In Psalm 46, the writer proclaims that God doesn’t just give us strength, He is our strength (v. 1). No matter what’s going on around us, the “Lord Almighty is with us” (v. 7). The psalmist repeats this truth with conviction (v. 11).

Like the sloth, our day-to-day adventures often require slow steps and extended periods of seemingly impossible stillness. When we rely on God’s unchanging character, we can depend on His strength no matter what plan and pace He determines is right for us.

Though we may continue to battle afflictions or struggle with waiting, God remains faithfully present. Even when we don’t feel strong, He’ll help us flex our faith muscles. — Xochitl Dixon

God Almighty, thank You for giving me opportunities to flex my faith muscles by trusting You to be my strength.

The moon is a beauty tonight. It took a while to be able to get a decent shot of it because there's still a hazy bit of clouds to the east here. But patience won out and I got a shot through the corn.

No rain for us for a few days. Sunday night and Monday will be our next chance. We hope for more than the dribble we got last night.

I hope y’all get more than a dribble tonight. There’s a large batch showing on the radar over an area NW of you that’s had a lot of fires. Maybe that will head your way and put out those fires along the way.

Oh, my goodness, that is a perfect shot! The corn is a lovely touch. That picture is frameable!

It was cloudy here earlier, and the temp dropped into the 80s. It was so nice even though we didn’t get a drop of rain. Sometimes just feeling cooler is enough.

Sleep would be nice...not much the last 3 nights, but we got the checks “printed”. I go into the office in the morning to print and mail them. Direct Deposits are on the way to individual banks.
