HARRISBURG, PA — With the all-important 2022 midterm elections coming up, Pennsylvania finds itself once again in the national political spotlight. Long seen as a bellweather swing state whose gentle sways to the left and right would indicate how the rest of the country was leaning, this year has the added importance of practical influence: the 2022 gubernatorial and U.S. Senate races could be hugely influential to the future balance of power in both the state and nation.
The race for the next governor finds voters split along all the old familiar lines: most Democrats support current Gov. Tom Wolf and the man Wolf has endorsed as his successor, current Attorney General Josh Shapiro. In a state which former President Donald Trump narrowly won in 2016 and nearly won in 2020, a man running on many of his same platforms and views, State Sen. Doug Mastriano, has the support of most Republicans.
But an ardent undercurrent of frustrated moderate Republicans, including some of those who backed Lou Barletta and David McCormick in the spring primaries, are now calling for resistance on the right to the Mastriano-Trump movement.
A group called "Republicans4Shapiro" has been formed by Craig Snyder, a former chief of staff for moderate republican U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, and former U.S. Rep. Jim Greenwood. The group says they'll target "the significant percentage" of registered Republicans and independents in the state who do not align with Shapiro.

PS. Tim Ryan is not a moderate. AOC fully endorses him. If Ryan were like Manchin and Sinema she would not.

The PA Republicans are fine with things as they are, because they control many of the state political offices. As long as they get their share of the grift, it's all good.

Pennsylvania has some good county organizations, including ours, but the statewide leadership are feckless frat boys and country clubbers who make Arlen Specter look conservative. I’ll vote for Oz, warts and all, for that reason alone.
I haven’t met any of these people. I voted for Barletta. Barletta was one of Trump’s first supporters for the ‘16 election. He’s MAGA thru and thru. So are many of his supporters. I can’t say the same about McCormick, but I don’t envision his supporters turning into Democrats over night.
I believe the problem here is simple. The PA GOP establishment hasn’t been fully rooted out. They are a small minority separate and apart from most voters, particularly from the T. That minority has the press contacts and they are scared for their political lies. Don’t be deceived by what you hear in the media. Don’t be disheartened. Articles like these are meant to demotivate you and keep you from voting. Republicans will vote Republican in November. It’s the Democrats that have no reason to vote. They will stay away in droves.
This is why supporting the GOP is a waste. Trying to take over the GOP never works. This is the reason we are only offered assistant RATs to vote for and have to lose a lot. A real loss is when you vote for a lying loser who wins. That is how you get an assistant democrat. Kind of like that Joni Earnst and that cadre of odious barnacles that attach themselves to the turtle Mitch McConnell.
They do love it.
This is just another “shiny thing” to distract from the Hunter Biden corruption and criminality, and direct ties to the criminal WH.
RINO equals Globalist Democrat. Mastriano will win this.
All these communist countries blatantly do it no matter how many of their countrymen and women show up to vote against them the conservative candidates don’t stand a chance! You know the saying it doesn’t matter if millions and millions of people show up to vote it’s who counts the votes and what machines are being used. That’s why the dictators rig the election because they know they cannot stay in power if they play by the rules. So it’s always boils down to one MAIN thing “the voting machines”.

Snarlin’ Arlen ended his career as a DEMOCRAT, which is what he was all along.
