Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes is pushing for a chance to publicly testify before the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack as it prepares to review the role extremist groups played in the riot.
Rhodes, the leader of the far-right militia group, is incarcerated and awaiting trial on seditious conspiracy charges that carry up to 20 years in prison.
“He’s willing to speak directly with the January 6 Select Committee. He has a few what I consider to be extremely reasonable conditions to be met,” his attorney James Lee Bright told The Hill.
Bright said Rhodes would be willing to waive his Fifth Amendment rights, but he said any testimony would need to be live and in person. He dismissed the idea of a taped interview, fearing the committee would showcase only those moments that “benefit the direction they’re seeking as a committee.”
Rhodes already sat with investigators from the Jan. 6 committee for more than six hours in February.
But Bright said during that interview he pleaded the Fifth to questions about the time period in between the election and Jan. 6 at the advice of his attorneys.
The committee subpoenaed Rhodes last November, noting that he committed to providing security for “multiple scheduled events, speakers, VIPs, and event attendees” in connection with Jan. 6.

Before he was arrested, I thought he had been flipped into an FBI “asset.” Since he’s been arrested, I don’t think so. But who knows?

The political theater of this inquisition, and the post 6 January political round up where we essentially had “political prisoners” is embarrassing.
It was obvious, Biden won with a narrow margin and seriously gaming the system, who the winner was is questionable. Biden and his stooges at the DOJ basically eliminated the core of the grass roots opposition. The leaders of 2 or 3 major groups that threaten him were eliminated (at least long enough for the dust to settle and he be comfortable in his seat). Folks were intimidated, the movement was de-legitimized and of course the MSM was aiding in the process 100%.

The real culprits here are those conducting their commission. They are the ones that intimidated law abiding citizens (even those that did nothing wrong were interviewed - very unconventional), who robbed citizens of their rights to a speedy trial, etc.
This 6 January committee are the folks that should be answering questions right now. They are the problem.
This had to have hurt him financially, you have friends turn their back, jail isn't a fun place, jobs get lost, family is under pressure, people go out of their way to hurt you, you see your reputation damaged (they label you). There is no way he hasn't felt the pain. And yet here he stands. Impressive-

We sympathize with these patriots and the position they’re in. But the reality is that it is very unlikely that any organization or militia with the stated purpose of the Oath Keepers to recruit law enforcement officers and veterans can help but become, in effect, a honeypot trap. And this is what we believe the Oath Keepers is at the highest organizational level, and we believe the overwhelming share of evidence indicates that Stewart Rhodes’s primary purpose is to fulfill this deceptive function on behalf of elements within the government.
Finally, we re-emphasize our earlier caveat. The purpose of this expose is not to target Mr. Rhodes personally nor are we interested in him being indicted. Our interest is in the federal infiltration, involvement and foreknowledge of 1/6
