Former Jan. 6 investigator and self-described "lifelong Republican" John Wood announced that he's running as an independent candidate for an open U.S. Senate seat in Missouri.

“I am not looking to be a spoiler. I’m in this race to win it,” Wood told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Tuesday. “I think that there is a coalition of common-sense voters that can be put together.”

Wood said he was running in part out of concern that former Gov. Eric Greitens would be the GOP nominee in the Republican-leaning state.

Whatever you think of Eric Greitens if the Republican Voters of Missouri vote for him, I say you have to go for it, versus some guy entering the race late with one purpose in mind, which is to ensure a Democrat wins that election.

“lifelong Republican”

That usually means he’s for everything the Left is for he just wants slightly lower capital gains tax rates.

“I am not looking to be a spoiler. I’m in this race to win it . . .

Egg McMuffin, former CIA, says the same thing in Utah and he is running for the same reason . . . to siphon votes from the GOP candidate.

The deep state just can't get over their hissy fit of losing their grip on one political party.

I am definitely not voting for Greitens. I will be deciding between Schmitt and Hartzler.

Right before the next presidential election? Mail-in ballots required again?

Yeah, right! Sounds like those "seminar callers" on conservative talk shows who claim that they have been conservative activists since they trudged through snowdrifts in New Hampshire walking precincts for Barry Goldwater but see Donald Trump as a grave threat to Democracy.

Thats all Greitens would have to accuse Wood of and he’d be a sho-in.

If they can’t win, they’ll make sure that a Democrat does. That’s the MO of the Assistant Democrat party. They *hate* MAGA conservatives.

Same here. Dude seems a little unstable. If he wins the primary, I’ll vote for him in the general.

“I am not looking to be a spoiler. I’m in this race to win it,”

In other words, he's in it as a spoiler.

There always has been lots of hanky-panky in US senate races in Missouri.

You should review the history of US senate "elections" in Missouri.

Not saying how you should vote, I'm just saying that the Democrats have "interesting methods" in Missouri.

Missouri 2008
McCain Obama
1,445,814	1,441,911
Missouri 2012
Romney Obama
1,482,440	1,223,796
Akin McCaskill
1,063,698 1,484,683

Just when the Democrat NEEDED that Missouri senate seat. Hey presto!!
