Aide: Trump dismissed Jan. 6 threats, wanted to join crowd

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump rebuffed his own security’s warnings about armed protesters in the Jan. 6 rally crowd and made desperate attempts to join his supporters as they marched to the Capitol, according to dramatic new testimony before the House committee investigating the 2021 insurrection.

Cassidy Hutchinson, a little-known former White House aide, described an angry, defiant president who was trying that day to let armed protesters avoid security screenings at a rally that morning to protest his 2020 election defeat and who later grabbed at the steering wheel of the presidential SUV when the Secret Service refused to let him go to the Capitol.

And when the events at the Capitol spiraled toward violence, with the crowd chanting to “Hang Mike Pence,” she testified Tuesday that Trump declined to intervene.

Trump “doesn’t think they’re doing anything wrong,” Hutchinson recalled hearing from her boss, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

Hutchinson’s explosive, moment-by-moment account of what was happening inside and outside the White House offered a vivid description of a Republican president so unwilling to concede his 2020 election defeat to Democrat Joe Biden that he acted out in rage and refused to stop the siege at the Capitol.

The young ex-aide was matter-of-fact in most of her answers. But she did say that she was “disgusted” at Trump’s tweet about Pence during the siege.

“It was unpatriotic, it was un-American, and you were watching the Capitol building get defaced over a lie,” Hutchinson said, adding that, “I still struggle to work through the emotions of that.”

Members of the panel praised Hutchinson’s bravery for testifying and said that other witnesses had been intimidated and did not cooperate.

So basically we have some unknown aide making wild, unsubstantiated claims, two of which are already being disputed by the Secret Service and by other aids. What a joke this Jan 6 committee and its hearings are - might as well have let Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar conduct the whole sham.

I recommend the use of Code Pink tactics to infiltrate the January 6th Committee Hearings and stage a re-enactment of the fire extinguisher beating death of Ofc. Sicknick. (Using a Nerf fire extinguisher, of course.) It is the quintessential example of something that never happened, but nonetheless has been trafficked, ad infinitum, by anti-Trump forces.

Another direction might be to protest the lack of Capitol Rotunda lying-in-state memorial for the late Sargent at Arms of the House - Michael Stenger. Sure, some might say, "his death was unrelated to January 6th" but hey, neither was Sicknick's, and that didn't stop ostensible leaders like Pelosi from performing like Broadway actors at his memorial service in the Capitol.

I have some questions about this surprise witness:
Who was surprised?
Who will be surprised?
Can emotions be used to influence decisions?
How do you control emotion?
How do you insert a plant?
Can emotions be used to insert a plant?
Who is Cassidy Hutchinson?

How should I put this: She is a liar. Even the Secret service agrees that she lied. Once again we see this committee has the same credibility as the Russia hoax.

They are using Crazy Cassidy as an angle to try to go on a fishing expedition against Justice Thomas. Cassidy was a Mark Meadows aide, and Mark Meadows and Justice Thomas’ wife had some alleged correspondence with Meadows about how the Eastman’s election fraud investigation was progressing.

I havent seen any denials about his words. Just specific actions.

The actions are the problematic part. The words are no big deal

Lincoln Project Video on Clarence and Ginni Thomas Viewed Over 500K Times

Newsweek ^ | 04/02/2022 | Andrew Stanton
ALincoln Project video calling on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from cases involving the January 6 Capitol riot has been viewed more than half a million times as of Saturday afternoon, following its release on Friday. Justice Thomas has faced pressure to recuse himself from such cases since reports outlining the role that his wife, Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, played in attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Text messages she allegedly sent to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows showed her expressing support for overturning the election, based on unproven claims of voter fraud.

Judging by the context he isn’t talking about the window breakers -who were not the speech attendees but rather, were at the Capitol before or during the speech on the ellipse. Appears to be talking about the crowds that arrived after the speech was done. They are not the same group of people.

Which begs the question... what Supreme Court-level cases involving J6 are the Democrats so desperate not to lose that they want to rig the court in their favor? What cases, specifically, are they so afraid of, that relate?

I couldn’t tell you what might be an effective way to counter the intended effect of this committee. It’s already self-satirical; it’s strictly a question of “who gets the joke”. Who sees or does not see that staging such a ridiculous one-sided non-adversarial so-called “hearing” is every bit as unAmerican as whatever the capitol hooligans might have pulled off. To spend effort trying to counter it on a quality basis is or would be as big a waste of time and energy as the hearings themselves. You couldn’t get good actors to play the parts of the congresspeople sitting on the committee; that would be career suicide for them. And satirical efforts to mock the hearings downplay the seriousness of those participants who were, in fact serious. Which to me is a loser.

There is, I suspect, a way to do what you’re suggesting. But I can’t formulate it.

“....said something to the effect of”

perjury protection?

She and all the Dems know that what she said will not be restated by the media with her qualifications. After a few restatements, half the country will believe that everything she said are proven facts. ...very frustrating...
