CHICAGO -- Chicago weekend shootings have left at least 25 shot, five fatally, police said.
One person was killed and another wounded after gunmen opened fire on a CTA bus Sunday afternoon in West Garfield Park. About 1:20 p.m., two armed males entered the bus in the 300-block of South Pulaski Road, walked to the back and began shooting at two people on board, police said. A male, whose age was unknown, was shot in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. A man, 24, suffered a graze wound to the head and refused medical attention, police said.
A man was found shot to death Friday night in Longwood Manor - the second person found fatally shot in an hour. Amad Martin, 23, was found with gunshot wounds to his back and left shoulder in the 9600-block of South Princeton Avenue about 11:35 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died from his injuries, police said.
Less than an hour earlier, a man was found fatally shot less than three miles away in Pullman. Edward L. Gholston, 45, was found by officers with multiple gunshot wounds in the 10700-block of South Champlain Avenue about 11 p.m., police and the medical examiner's office said.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 20-year-old man in the left arm, police said. Both were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, officials said. A third man, 19, was grazed in the right leg and refused medical attention, police said.
Last weekend, 61 people were shot, 10 fatally.

It’s normal now so no one notices
is it the government’s job to stop shootings?
Not that high a weekend toll for Chicago.
It reminds me of a certain vaccine. Safe and effective.
Unfortunately innocent bystanders are getting hit; I say let the street gangs fight it out amongst themselves - eliminate a bunch of them.
Just wait. It’s the July 4th weekend coming up.
-—is it the government’s job to stop shootings?-—
I will argue yes.
A primary reason for government is to provide protection for the citizens.
How many of the felons who committed these crimes will be arrested, tried, found guilty, and imprisoned? Probably none.
Ironically, it’s probably the case that every gang-banger killed results in a net saving of lives. With Chicago’s dismal record of solving homicides, it will keep happening.
In a city with massive gun control!
Should be easy to find...
It was a sloppy looking illiterate black dude in a hoodie with pants down below his his butt crack wearing Nike G-Fazos.
He was holding a big chrome pistol sideways and shooting bullets all over the place.
.
(Going to check our stash of 40rd Pmags for the 556)
Meanwhile, that freakazoid thing they call a mayor talks on and on about “gun violence “ and white supremacy.
In a city with massive gun control!
********
That’s the problem. Massive control keeps guns out of the
hands of legals who could put a stop to some of this.
An average chicago weekend.
Our good friends there always do a better job of reporting murder and mayhem in Chicongo than Big Media does. Note the TWO "mass shootings", one on Saturday and one early Monday morning. Where's the press? Where are the pearl-clutching politicians. Clearly, black lives DON'T matter.

This happens in the deepest jungles of Chicongo where Democrat thugs kill other democrat thugs on a daily basis. Where are the poverty pimps Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson?
PS. I approve.
Actually, this is well below average for Chicago. In 2021 they had 797 murders.
