The Supreme Court’s Abortion Decision Does Not Change the Midterms
Red State ^ | Jun 25, 2022 | Jeff Charles

Posted on 06/25/2022 7:17:25 PM PDT by T Ruth

I predicted previously that the overturning of Roe v. Wade would not affect the outcome of the upcoming midterm Congressional elections. I still stand by that prediction, now that the Supreme Court has handed down its ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson. Nevertheless, folks on both sides of the aisle appear to believe that this development could increase Democrats’ chances of avoiding a total shellacking in November.

Now that Republicans have succeeded in overturning Roe, some have surmised that this could be a pyrrhic victory that comes back to haunt them later. Republican strategists told Politico that they are concerned that the court’s ruling might adversely impact the outcome of the upcoming congressional elections.

“This is not a conversation we want to have,” said John Thomas, one of the strategists. “We want to have a conversation about the economy. We want to have a conversation about Joe Biden, about pretty much anything else besides Roe … This is a losing issue for Republicans.”

***

“You go to any diner in America, and nobody’s talking about this,” said Dave Carney, a national Republican strategist. “That’s not what’s driving the conversation. Real people, working people, people who vote, are talking about the incompetence of the president, and then they go down the list of six or seven things.”

***

Democrats, for their part, escalated their rhetoric after the decision was handed down on Friday. When the court’s draft opinion was leaked in May, they began laying the groundwork for the campaign they would launch once the ruling was issued. Now, they are engaging in a full-court press to excoriate the overturning of Roe and using alarmist talking points to rile up their voting base.

Sometimes you just have to do what is right and moral and have faith that all will work out.

I never thought I would live to see the terrible evil of "Roe" undone, and this has renewed my faith that we will continue on a path away from the abominations our Nation once embraced...

Exactly!
We need to get all the pro-life people to the state assemblies as we can get!
They are very few people who vote for abortion. Most people do not care and the ones who make abortion priority are the pro-life people.
March for life drew a lot more people every year than all these wokes protesting now!
For fifty years, we worked tirelessly on every election so lives could be saved! We were used and always they come with excuse - well Supreme Court is the constitution. Voting Republican Presidents in and they got us Judges O’Connor, Kennedy, Roberts and Souter! Sorry, we messed up! We need more Republican Presidents! Next time we get it right!
Now we finally got it and some “operatives” are sorry!
It makes me sick that some “operatives” would sacrifice millions of babies just because they want to win ONE midterm election!

Suppose this ruling had come after midterms

How many more thousands of innocent children would be dead

What are you wishing for

If anything it makes me more determined to show up at the polls-even if I have to crawl through broken glass.

Really? It used to be that way. But now we have backstabbing pieces of chit leaders that say one thing and then backstab the base. I think that red flag Bill is going to be a huge consideration turnout for the base in November. A lot of us have just about had it with the RINO bastards that only use the base come election time...Than the rest of their term they screw us over royally. McConnell and McCarthy are effin useless rinos!

No if they are rioting in LA it does not matter.

It’s all over lib sites right now. “why protest in DC, LA, Portland, etc? Take it to the conservative strongholds!!!”

But the conservative strongholds are not going to allow rioting.

So they destroy their own strongholds. Sheer idiocy.

The goal is NOT to have Republican office holders. The goal is to have better laws and better government. Calling this a pyrrhic victory because of the loss of marginal races is like complaining about winning the Super Bowl because you get worse draft picks.

The pro life increment favors republicans.

This is also correct. Abortion is a winning issue for Republicans.

Trump has a 75.0% success rate of replacing incumbent Republican RINOs. His backed people have won that
percentage so far.

That’s what we’ve been suggesting needed to be done for two
or three generations.

It’s happening.

I think a major win like this is actually going to energize the GOP base of conservatives.

How many people to they think are really going to get energized to vote for killing babies? I mean the hardcore lefties will, but they always vote anyway.

GOP TURNOUT is key in every race.

I saw a statistic once that showed that democrat turnout is relatively constant, and GOP turnout controls the winner every time.

They cannot keep the rage going that long. It is simply not possible. After rage comes exhaustion.

Also the abortion supporters are in the minority. In a turnout over abortion Pro Life wins.

They were already as motivated as they could get. This is not going to help them

They will now focus on running against democratic moderates like Sinema and Manchin. You already see this happening. Fewer will bother to try and sabotage republican primaries by crossing over. Good bye Cheney, Murkowski and others. Getting hard left baby killers on the ballot helps the righteous.

The longer they rage the less actual planning they do.

These violent protest hurt their cause.

RE: Does anyone think these people out there on the streets were
going to vote for Republicans anyway? Let’s get real.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Excellent point.

Only downer is the big turnout effect Dems are dreaming of. Let’s hope they burn out and go passive, smoke some dope and watch Netflix or Disney instead of filling out their piles of ballots.

Makes idiot Biden look like a hero to save “health” of women by letting them murder babies at will.

Republicans and pro-life people need to be prepared to give a good, straightforward, and reasonable defense of their position. (I know that some already are, but some aren’t.) I have been watching the responses to this from the other side. They are illogical, are not based in fact, and are an insult to anyone with an IQ above 85.

I agree with the article, this wont affect the midterms one iota.

Once the vast majority of liberals realize they already live in states that will continue to have abortions. There will be a collective shrug compared to economic issues.
