During her weekly press conference on Thursday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that she would support a lowering of the federal voting age to 16.
“Squad” Rep. Ayanna Pressley has also caused a lowering of the voting age to 16 and for the age to buy firearms to be raised to 21.
Pressley, a progressive House Democrat, is only one of the many members who have been calling for the voting age to be lowered.
When Fox News Digital asked why she believed 16-year-olds were equipped to vote but not mature enough to purchase a firearm she declined to answer.
“A 16-year-old in 2021 possesses a wisdom and a maturity that comes from 2021 challenges, 2021 hardships, and 2021 threats,” Pressley said in March 2021. “Now is the time for us to demonstrate the courage that matches the challenges of the modern-day 16- and 17-year-old.”
During a live Facebook conversation after her voting rights amendment failed last year she said that she was “shocked” that lowering the voting age to 16 was “polarizing.”
Efforts to lower the voting age have failed twice since 2019, while the House of Representatives is under Democrat control.
Conservatives have been against these proposals and many have said that the only reason the Democrats are pushing for this is that younger people tend to vote for them.
Due to the small vote margins, lowering the age doesn’t have enough backing even within the Democratic party to gain a majority. If the Republicans gain the House any lowering of the voting age will be unlikely.
I’m fine with moving the age for voting and firearms ownership to 21, so long as you also require the minimum age to serve in the military to 21 as well, and treat those below 21 as minors in every other fashion as well, to include taxation.
My 20 year old son is not near mature enough to make good decisions on many things in life. I hope he comes around quickly, but to think of him voting at 16? Might as well give his vote to donkey to make the choice.
I think maybe lower the voting age to 6. After all children are so wise. Isn’t the whiney Thundberg bint wiser than all the rest of us? And if there is any doubt in their young skulls full of mush about who to vote for they can ask their LGBQRSTUVWXVZ teacher.
Good grief. I would have the voting age raised to age 25 (the time when the human brain fully matures), and I say that, having voted since I was 21. And believe me, I was young and dumb (and Democrat) back then.

No, many states allowed drinking at 18 until the early 80s, when the Federal government tied road money to a drinking age of 21.
Given all the unborn Democratic voters that desperate, lawless Democrats have been unthinkingly promoting the murder of for many decades, Pelosi's support for lowering voting age isn't surprising.

They would like the voting age to be eight years old. They are at the forefront of advocating for full civil rights for children. (They want to usurp parental responsibilities, take them from parents and give them to government under the guise of “civil rights”.)
I am re-reading a great book right now about the climate change hoax called “Red Hot Lies” by Christopher Horner, and in it, he has a whole chapter about how the Left engages young children in political battles like this, turning them into nags who relentlessly hector their parents from within the household.
They have young and impressionable minds, and the Left sees those malleable minds as a resource to be mined and exploited.

If you can vote, you should be able to smoke, drink and have a gun.
Since we’re engaging in fantasy voting schemes, one vote per taxpaying citizen. If you’re a net tax eater for that tax year, your vote does not count. Also, end withholding and make all taxes due in full two weeks before election day, if you don’t pay at least a certain net total amount, say $1, you don’t get a ballot.

Anus Pressly has a screw loose. Sixteen year olds are nothing but young skulls full of mush. If they shouldn’t have guns, they sure as hell shouldn’t be voting. Abolish the 26th Amendment. Increase the voting age back to 21 (25 or 30 would be better).
Need to raise to 21 except for the military.
