In their dogged reporting of the Watergate scandal, Washington Post reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein uncovered the crimes that forced Richard Nixon to resign the presidency in August 1974.
That version of Watergate has long dominated popular understanding of the scandal, which unfolded over 26 months beginning in June 1972. It is, however, a simplistic trope that not even Watergate-era principals at the Post embraced.
For example, the newspaper’s publisher during Watergate, Katharine Graham, pointedly rejected that interpretation during a program 25 years ago at the now-defunct Newseum in suburban Virginia.
“Sometimes, people accuse us of ‘bringing down a president,’ which of course we didn’t do, and shouldn’t have done,”Graham said. “The processes that caused [Nixon’s] resignation were constitutional.”

I saw this documentary and some guy named Forrest Gump reported activity at the Watergate which started it all.
The primary lie of all journalists isn’t even a political slant. It’s the lie that they know what is going on.
You can type the word “watergate” entirely with your left hand, if you don’t capitalize.
Nixon wasn’t as bad as people now seem to think.
But he brought HIMSELF down.
Journalists have been successfully waging war against Republican politicians for many decades.
But now it has become so obvious and so one-sided that it is a little embarrassing. Time to run a story saying, “Journalists didn’t destroy Nixon, you know. Everyone says we did, but it just wasn’t really like that ... And we didn’t try to ruin Trump either. Even though he is literally Hitler.”
They were out to get him from that point on. He didn't make it that hard for them once he had been President for four years.
Dean set up Watergate. Nixon knew nothing about it, but he tried to cover it up.
Watergate was the first successful Deep State takedown of a POTUS (that we know of; likely JFK as well but that’s another method).
Nixon didn’t need the ‘help’ from the keystone cop CREEP guys. He was going to win bigly regardless of the dirty tricks.
The coverup on tape is what brought him down. He lost the firewall and the plausible deniability.
Pride. Paranoia. Overkill.
Biden should be impeached for his various sellout crimes. Out in the open now with the laptop. Primitive and rather idiotic. But he’ll be given a pass because he’s a Dem and a d.s. stooge.
For those of us who had to suffer through the RATS’ “Watergate”, it was the biggest sh*t show I’ve ever seen in my life. A bigger farce than Bonzo’s FIB J6 Sh*t Show.
Added to that was Thomas Eagleton, who dropped out after it was revealed that he had spent time in various hospitals and received shock therapy. Of course, his withdrawal from the ticket denied the American voter the only opportunity they ever had to vote for a politician who had a doctor's note saying he was sane when he left the hospital.
And Watergate led to the Nixon resignation, the withdrawal from Vietnam, the murder of millions of people in Southeast Asia by the Communists, Jimmy Carter, stagflation, and so on. I would blame Watergate for Disco and Polyester, but that would be a stretch.
Russia, Russia, Russia makes Watergate look like child’s play.

Did those guys do anything of note within the last half century?
they were amateurs
just get the fbi to spy on your opponent’s campaign
like hillary
No.
The purpose of the breakin was to see if there was a connection between Dean and the whore Maureen
When Nixon was weakened, he wanted to salvage his legacy and opened up to China in a position of weakness. Catastrophic to US national interests.
Kissinger certainly helped.
.
77?
No, he's saying Woodward and Bernstein didn't do it.
