New report finds Shroud of Turin dates back to the era of the earthly ministry of Jesus, contradicting 1988 evidence dating cloth as being centuries newer.
New scientific procedures says fabric in the shroud is about 2,000 years old.
The study also analyzed traces of pollen on the shroud.
“The pollen samples gathered are from plants that are native to not just the Middle East, but specifically the area around Judea, Palestine, and Syria within that time period,” said Brian Hyland, curator at Museum of the Bible.
“There’s also pollen from the area around Constantinople. There’s a lot of pollen from Europe,” suggesting the shroud traveled from the Holy Land through [now Turkey and France] to its current home in Italy since the 16th century.
“The only single sample they took did not represent anywhere else on the cloth because it had been manipulated,” said Barrie Schwortz.
Schwortz, who is Jewish, pushed back on claims the shroud was a creation of Leonardo DaVinci.
“The Shroud has been publicly shown 100 years before da Vinci was born. He was a good artist, but he wasn’t that good.”
Schwortz said that until he saw the shroud, he was “biased against it.”
“I even said, somewhere along the line to somebody that, you know, we’ll get to Turin, we’ll give it five minutes, we’ll find the paint, we’ll come home, we’ll be done.”
There is no paint on the cloth, however.
British David Rolfe new film, “Who Can He Be,” said his team produced a 3D image from data from the fabric. “The only way that the image could’ve got on to that cloth is a miraculous one. A miracle that emanated from the body with unbelievable amounts of energy but within an infinitesimally short space of time.”

Amen to that.
Excellent post, thank you!
There is no chain of custody therefore there is no valid evidence
Are you saying the shroud, despite all evidence isn’t 800-1200 years old but is 2000? And you’re insulting me over that??
Surely that was done by his disciples who carried the body, washed it and wrapped it for burial.
That said, the image looks genuine to me. It is too detailed in ways that an artist could not help himself from "correcting."
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. —2 Timothy 3: 1-7
Uh, the article even quotes a Jewish man involved in the research on the shroud.
“No, the Shroud cloth has been carbon dated to that time period.”
Where?
Interesting. Thank you.
Worked immediately for me. Try clearing your cache.
Nothing but to accept the Trinity of Christ. Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
That’s all.

Thanks
Obviously his laying out was done with care, with his head, legs and arms placed symmetrically in repose after the cruel stretching torture on the cross. The Jews of the time would have automatically covered a man's private parts, either with the hands, or a separate loin cloth, if they were believers in the Christ or not.
It was not strategic or divinely ordered out of nowhere; it was common practice and common decency among the Jews. Sexual modesty was one of the aspects of the Chosen People that set them apart from the Greeks, Romans and various pagan sects of the times.
What is more to the point is that Jesus was born into the Israelite line and heritage, so that when the time for his crucifixion and its aftermath would come around, his body would be handled customarily in a way that does not shock the conscience of subsequent believers.
Typo-———
I was worried about Y’all!
;)
I’m not trying to change your mind. You can believe what you want, just as I can.
We can agree to disagree on this issue and maybe agree on 1000 others.
I’m saving my fighting for the day we have to fight enemies, not friends.
Too many divisions, even here.
Have a good one.🙂
“I’m not trying to change your mind. You can believe what you want, just as I can.”
You made a scientific statement about an event that I was not aware of. By your response I am assuming that you misspoke when you made that statement.
You don’t know what you’re talking about.
The scientific evidence IS that the Shroud is 2000 years old.
There have been a number of threads on FR which hashed out the physical evidence in detail.
But you’re a n00b, so you wouldn’t know about them.
You know, the thought you may have made a typo did cross my mind, but -— leaving nothing to chance...
Be blessed, then, as your faith does not rest upon a shroud, but upon Jesus Christ, The Rock of our Salvation.
That has always been my problem. Try wrapping a bust in a paint soaked rag. Upon unwrapping, you're looking at an extreme distortion of the facial and other body features. So, the energy emanating from the body only came out the front? I don't get it.
