A more accurate quote would be “Beijing tells Rat Party Headquarters”.

So if China wants to roll the dice, now might not be a bad time.

I doubt China would take any action at this point. I think the current statement is just a shot across the bow to warn the US and Taiwan against doing anything stupid.

I think China would view the status quo as preferable to a war. The future is uncertain, so there's always the chance things might resolve themselves in China's favor without an armed conflict somehow, just like they took over Hong Kong.

The big risk for China in an armed conflict is sanctions from the west. Their economy collapses without sales into the US and European markets. It's a way different situation from Russia. Russia can survive sanctions from the west. The west, especially Europe, can't survive without Russian energy and food exports.

Very good point. However, sanctions would also cause widespread shortages - and even more inflation - in the US. According to some sources, 60% of what Walmart sells is made in China. Walmart sells that stuff (clothing, appliances, etc.) because people can afford it. What happens when all those shelves go bare?

A strong president like FDR or Trump would thread that needle. A weak president like Biden might just water down the sanctions so much as to make them meaningless.

Hey, CCP, it is REpublic of China.

Bugger off.

If you invade, all of your port cites will sprout mushrooms. Think you will survive the political fallout of that?

"I think China would view the status quo as preferable to a war."

The status quo was the Semiconductor Manufacturing stay in Taiwan. China wants this to remain in Taiwan.

Top China Chipmaker Warns of Growing Shortfall as U.S. Decouples

China War Risk Sees Taiwan’s TSMC Moving Fabs to US, Japan

"I doubt China would take any action at this point."

Once the Chip manufacturing is move to Japan and the USA, China would lose their bargaining power. I believe China will move to secure semiconductor resources much like Japan invaded China for its natural resources and farmland.

The world's source for semiconductors is concentrated in Taiwan, who controls Taiwan controls the world. China might secure Taiwan before the factories are relocated to other countries.

“Their economy collapses without sales into the US and European markets. “

Russia is still selling oil. They are making more money off energy products then before the Ukraine war.

Embargoes do not work. Europe has traded with countries like Iran ignoring embargos before. They will do the same with China.

Walmart sells that stuff (clothing, appliances, etc.) because people can afford it. What happens when all those shelves go bare?

Then people will get by with the old stuff they already have for awhile longer until alternative sources refill the shelves. Or buy used stuff if they absolutely must have a new toaster or washing machine right now. Sure, there'd be some inflation, but nothing like there is from reducing supplies of food and energy. Food and energy aren't things you can buy used, or put off buying for a year or so.

China would be hurt much more by a US and EU embargo than the west would. Right now, China is doing a balancing act. They need food and energy from Russia, but they're being careful not to annoy the west too much. They'll make whatever meaningless political gestures are necessary to avoid being treated as an enemy by the west.

And that several of them are at various spots along the base of the Three Gorges Dam.

I strongly doubt that.

Possibly. But I suspect that plans have been in place for quite a while to destroy all useful machinery at the factories and perhaps level the factories if the Reds invade and it looks like the factories are going to fall to the Reds.

You do know which nation invaded the other, right?

Did the Ukraine encircle Moscow recently?

Any nation that is invaded should be able to fight back.

Support the war? LMAO, who is defending the invader?

I don’t support this war. I vehemently condemn Russia
for what they have done. Do you?

When, not if, but when, China Moves on Taiwan it will be quick and dirty. Expect a Chinese Fifth Column to rise up and most of the Chinese army will fly in. No Ukraine here, quick and dirty war fueled by corrupt people in Taiwan Government seeking new jobs in the Communist Chinese state of Taiwan. The rich will survive well, the not so rich, not so much. The USA and Japan will have little time to respond to fast changing events. Over in two weeks.

Do you condemn America for bombing Libya and causing a decade long civil war?
I don’t give a damn about Russia or Ukraine.

Then why are you calling other people who recognize the right
of the Ukraine to defend themselves, the supporters of war?

If someone invades the U.S., are those who support its right
to defend itself, going to be slandered as nothing more than
people who support war?

Come on...

The Libyan situation was Soros and Clinton Driven. I didn’t
support going in. It’s a total mess today. Khadaffi had
been neutered. He wasn’t particularly mistreating his
people. As usual, the Left in the U. S. didn’t have a
single clue about the true dynamics of the region.

Soros group fomented unrest in Tunisa and toppled it’s
government.

Then the U. S. joined him in Libya, and the Arab Spring
was on. Egypt lost it’s leaders too. Our ambassador
and two of his staff were killed.

If something is wrong, it’s wrong on it’s own merits.

What happened in Libya or any other place, has no bearing
on it.
