A Democratic senator who has been a politician since 1975 assured Americans on Tuesday that if they purchase an electric vehicle that cost more than many of them make in one year, they can laugh as they pass gas stations, as she did on the way to Washington.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., was addressing the issue of record-high prices at the pump during a Senate hearing.

"I do just have to say, on the issue of gas prices, after waiting for a long time to have enough trips in this country to finally get my electric vehicle, I got it and I drove it from Michigan to here this last weekend and went by every single gas station and it didn’t matter how high it was," the senator said.

I’m hoping a new R Congress addresses the inequity of permitting EV drivers to recharge with fossil-gen electricity. Legislation is needed to MANDATE such charging is done ONLY by 100% “green” generated electricity.

I could support that, though I might up the House limit to 10 years so I could say “ a decade is enough!”.

Also I would like to find some way of sending them back to their home states or districts.

Also I’m reasonable, let them be eligible to return to Congress if they have set out 6 years , preferably in their respective states or districts. Most of these guys would drink or drug themselves into a stupor and disappear if they had to spend time out of the DC limelight.

Funny but I saw an Electric delivery Van on a flatbed truck yesterday. I guess it ran out of electricity. The van said ‘100% electric’ ‘Bright Future for the planet, you and us.’, but the tow vehicle was diesel power. 🤓

I live, work and farm in central Kansas. There aren’t any charging stations here and John Deere is not manufacturing any electric tractors and combines. So senator figure that out. Deisel fuel at nearly six dollars a gallon.

Agreeing completely with your statements. Of course there are other factors to consider in owning (or trying to own)an electric car, but the idea of requiring charging stations for them to be only “green” powered is a good one. It might be a good history lesson for electric car owners.
