A gunman who killed four people at a Tulsa hospital Wednesday targeted a doctor who had treated him and bought the AR-15-style rifle used in the shooting on the day of the attack, police said.
Michael Louis was armed with a rifle, which he had purchased at 2 p.m. Wednesday, and a handgun when he went to St. Francis Hospital shortly before 5 p.m., officials said.
He opened fire inside the Natalie Building, killing Dr. Preston Phillips and Dr. Stephanie Husen, receptionist Amanda Glenn and a patient, William Love, police said at a news conference Thursday.
Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin said that the shooter was a patient of Phillips and underwent back surgery May 19.
The shooter was released May 24 and repeatedly complained of being in pain in the days afterward. On May 31, the shooter received additional treatment at the hospital but still complained of pain, Franklin said.
The chief said the shooter "blamed" Phillips for his pain.
Hours before the killings, the shooter purchased an AR-15-style rifle from a gun store. Days before that, he had bought a semi-automatic pistol from a pawnshop, according to Franklin.
The chief said the shooter had a letter with him "which made it clear that he came in with the intent to kill Dr. Phillips and anyone who got in his way."
"He blamed Dr. Phillips for the ongoing pain following the surgery," he said.
The shooting began around 4:52 p.m. on the second floor of the five-story building. A doctor was on a video call with someone and told the person to call 911 to report shots fired, the chief said. Police received the first report at 4:53 and were on the scene 3 minutes later.
Either it is an AR-15 or it is not an AR-15.
His wife is a family practice doctor in Muskogee too.
Boy, how is she going to live this down with her colleagues.
She had best get in shape and go to Doctors Without Borders in deep dark Africa.
4 minutes I think.
Was the “Use By” date close?
Yes...and millions of seniors and handicapped people who are so vulnerable to threats, intimidation and worse.
I bet the Doctor cut him off of pain meds, I did double knee replacement and I rationed my original pain prescriptions after the first week to use only when I went to Physical Therapy which was 3 times a week cause I knew it was going to hurt like Hades till I got limbered back up and I made it fine but I saw others who literally fell apart and due to low tolerance of pain and refused to continue PT.
“Conversely, when the upper sclera is visible it is said to be an indication of mental imbalance in people such as psychotics, murderers, and anyone rageful. In either condition, it is believed that these people attract accidents and violence.”

Basically that’s because is was possessed.
I most likely move to a freer state.
~~Iām hearing the phrase āAR-15-style rifleā a lot more in lieu of āAssault Rifleā on news reports.~~
Then it wasn’t just me. When FOX moved on to other reporting after covering Tulsa’s Chief of Police, I turned to CNN and was surprised to see AR-15 STYLE rifle at the bottom of the screen. I posted about it. MAYBE - just MAYBE - enough CNN correspondents have been embarrassed and corrected about what they call “weapons of war”, some common sense is creeping in. I’m not holding my breath.
Now maybe the president will catch up!!! HA - not holding my breath there either!
That looks like a mug shot. Did this guy have a record? Was he legally allowed to have those guns? Did he have a history of anger aka mental illness?
So, he was perfectly capable of shooting his doctor but bought an AR-15 as well?
Looks psychotic.
When he bought the firearm is immaterial, if he had to wait longer than intended he would have just used another weapon (pistol, knife, Molotov cocktail, tape of biden speeches, etc.).
This is a people problem, not a gun problem. Donāt know how we weed out the mentally unstable, but removing/restricting our 2A freedom is not the answer.
I have always heard people say that back surgery can be very iffy. Might make you better, might make you worse, might not change it much... The guy looks like a nut though.
Sometimes it’s WAAAAAY too long.
Like standing around outside while people still alive are calling 911 begging for police to come in...because they’re afraid of being shot.
Do background checks not apply in pawn shops where he bought his gun?
So lame. What does that have to do with this?
I thought so - nothing.
I did a similar thing a couple months ago when I got TKR on my left leg. After the pain block wore off, I hurt like hell. Worst pain ever. PT was rough but I had a great PT doctor who reassured me every step of the way. He told it was going to hurt but that was the only way through it and that he was going to be there throughout. I’m about 85% back now. It’s easy to think because it’s outpatient it won’t be that bad, but I’m here to tell you, TKR is a mothu...
“I canāt believe there isnāt a waiting period in OK before taking the purchased weapon out the door. There no doubt will be one soon!”
No doubt there WON’T be one soon. At least, not implemented by the OK state legislature which is solid and very conservative R with a mild sprinkling of urban D. No telling what FJB throws out in his prime-time poop parade tonight.
Most mentally ill are possessed.
In a sane bygone era, he would have been Idād correctly as having possession. The eyes say it all.
Wild!
Say - am I distracting you from denyin' open and notorious vote fraud? Because I apologize if I did that. ;-)
