It's the political deep dive du jour that's going viral. NBC News is out with a lengthy piece outlining the struggles of the Biden White House. You can read the whole thing here. It strikes me as something of an effort to spin things for the failing administration, while simultaneously delivering a devastating assessment. Let's walk through it together, passage by passage:
(1) The story begins by relaying that the president is "rattled by" his low approval numbers and is casting about for a better messaging strategy. Messaging is not his problem, however. His problem is results. His problem is how he's approached the presidency. His problem is reality. The piece ticks off some crises that have 'piled up,' making the White House look 'flat-footed.' (Immigration, I'll note, was not among those listed). But again, the issue isn't so much that the administration has been unprepared to deal with myriad crises, so much as they've caused or at least exacerbated them. They can't 'message' their ideas well because their ideas are bad.
(2) The story suggests that a "shake-up" in the West Wing may be coming: "Should [Chief of Staff Ron] Klain go, a potential successor is Anita Dunn, a White House adviser and Biden confidant whom he often turns to when his fortunes look bleak. Dunn began working at the White House at the start of the term, then left and returned in early May at Biden’s specific request. No woman or person of color has ever been the White House chief of staff since the position was created after World War II." The pre-framing of historic diversity is an interesting choice, given how that messaging strategy hasn't been winning over many voters, despite this administration's obsession with it (joined by much of the press corps)....

He’s getting a lot more credit than he realizes.
Failing doesn’t even describe the damage he has done since Day One.
That rattle inside his skull drives me crazy every time I hear him start spewing.
A question never to be asked:
“Is Dr. Jill disappointed in your polling”?
I agree. He deserves more credit for ruining the lives of every American.
Biden is getting all of the credit that is due him.
LET’S GO BRANDON!!
Doing everything the opposite of how Trump would do it out of spite, and getting bad results...what does he not comprehend?
An alternate headline: “Old angry man orders the shuffling of deck chairs on a sinking ship.”
I doubt if there been much of that kind of polling since the
GWB Administration. lol!
He is getting plenty of credit, just not the kind he thinks.
Most of it is for the negative things, like rising food and gas prices, utilities increases, housing/apartment increases, etc.
Biden thinks he is doing a fantastic job because he is surrounded with yes-persons and sycophants who will not tell him the truth. He is isolated in a bubble that is suffocating him.
You have to be blind and dumb not to see:
* Gas prices climbing to record highs.
* Food shortages including baby formula.
* Crime is way up in major cities.
* U.S. looks impotent on international stage.
Not all of this is Biden’s fault but if you are the typical low-information voter, you’ve got plenty there to be upset about. I think presidents get too much credit and too much blame but when the “wrong direction” number in most polls is around 80%, the president is going to get the blame, even from the ignorant.
If he got the credit he deserved his approval rating would be zero
I give Brandon credit all the time but he keeps saying those things aren’t his fault.
Same bag a year ago was under three bucks.
I passed on the purchase.
let's go brandon, fjb
It’s all his.
Oil, gas price and food shortage is all his fault , there he gets all the credit
It is always “messaging” even when they have 95% of the media covering for them.
