The grandmother of the crazed gunman who killed 21 at a Texas elementary school last week worked at the school as a teacher’s aide, a close friend of the family told The Post.
The friend, who asked to be kept anonymous, did not know if that’s why Salvador Ramos, 18, chose Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, as his target — but his grandmother’s employment there is the first direct link between Ramos and the school, which is a half-mile from her home.
“His grandmother worked in one of those classrooms a lot of the time,” the friend told The Post. “She knows a lot of the kids who died and was close to them.”
Before Ramos went on a rampage at the school, he shot his grandmother, Celia “Sally” Martinez Gonzales, in the face at her home. While Gonzales was employed by the school at the time of the shooting, according to the friend and public records, it’s not clear why she was not there on the day of the attack.
The teenager had been sleeping on his grandparents’ couch two or three months before the shooting, Ramos’ grandfather previously told The Post. The husband said his 66-year-old wife had asked Ramos to start paying for his own cellphone bill just before the shooting happened.

“I know I tend not to go to work when that happens.”
There goes your gold star for perfect attendance!
Note to self. Don’t move to Uvalde TX. It’s crazy town.
The assistants at our school have a to key to their own classroom, but not a key to exterior school doors.
Only certain staff had master keys to exterior doors.
Think what the kids felt...Some guy walks in the door and starts shooting everyone in sight. Kids jump under tables and desks, some calling cops to help as the floor turns red.
Any survivors that needed immediate medical attention had an eternal wait...
Good point.
Grandmother: "But he is basically still a good boy. Except for the 21 corpses he left behind. Was having a bad day like we all have."
That’s exactly what I was thinking, I could see a teacher’s aide having keys to the classrooms they work in but not to the doors securing the building or other sensitive areas.
Why would a mere teacher’s aide ever being given a key?
This sounds like a copycat version of the Sandy Hook shooting.
Absolutely. In a small town, everyone does a lot of miscellaneous stuff. The minister may also deliver newspapers. Your lawn boy's dad may coach football. Your retired grandpa may repair small engines on the side. It's just how small towns work. It's as simple as that. No conspiracies are in play.
Teacher’s aids have academic duties..correcting papers, copying, preparation for the teacher...
And the teachers aid might have a grandson who is a vicious murdering psycho!
Salvador Ramos visited the school often with his grandmother. He knew to layout of the school well and planned the shooting with what he knew.
Exactly.
I’ll bet he did have his grandmothers key.
You can see all these signs...most moms and grandmoms just don’t do “tough love” with these kids.
No kidding. A really bad start to the day
He drove the pickup into a cement ditch.
He landed so hard that it knocked the wheels off the left side of the pickup.
Really poor motor skills for a young man.
Was he high?
And no, he wasn’t a great shot.
He missed the two guys from the funeral home.
This is all so sad.
I”’ll bet he had her key and knew which door she went in...”
