Republican and Democratic senators negotiating over a legislative proposal to respond to mass shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde, Texas, will hold a Zoom call Tuesday in hopes of reaching a deal on a basic framework by next week.
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who has been tasked by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to negotiate with Democrats, said the talks have been ongoing on the phone and in person.
βWeβre already having those discussions in person and on the phone. Look forward to meeting on Tuesday through a Zoom call to try to see if we can agree on a basic framework about how we go forward,β he told reporters in San Antonio Monday.

If democrats agree to it then we know we’re getting screwed.
It’s the same bunch that want to abandon the rule of law and give amnesty to illegal aliens so they might save time by working on both.
The Assistant Democrats are going to screw us again.
Ditch is happy in a minority.
They are flirting with losing winnable Senate seats in November.
These guys will start CWII if they follow through with it.
And the Senate is going to go after the millions of law abiding gun owners as a result. Huh?
I appreciate having the opportunity to represent Texas in the United States Senate. I recognize we have differing opinions on this important matter, but I hope you will continue to share your views with me regarding issues of importance to you. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.
Sincerely,
JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator
Never let a crisis go to waste. The shrinks are drugging up another bunch and turning them loose. More will occur.
First order of business, eliminate “gun-free zones”.
Relabel them for what they are, “Target practice galleys for terrorists”.
“Gun-free zones” cease to be gun-free the moment a terrorist steps in bearing a weapon, whether it is legal or illicit.
If it is the desire to slow or stop those bearers of weapons from entry to a specified areas, make the locality a single-entry area, with something called a “man-trap”. A man-trap consists of a set of two interlocking doors that cannot be open simultaneously. Enter first door, and the first door has to close before the second door can be opened. Keep this vestibule area under constant video surveillance, with a remote operator, and put the entry and passage doors under the control of the operator. The outer door may open, but the passage door cannot.
This system works really, really well in controlled-access office buildings and apartment residences.
Wrong group, working on the wrong problem...
Secure the schools. Arm those teachers who wish to be armed. Control access via SPOE. Thorough video coverage with live feeds to local Law Enforcement. Secure doors on all classrooms with automatic locks on closing. Identify ‘no view’ portions of the classrooms to make sure students and staff are not visible through door windows. Put classroom numbers on exterior windows to facilitate access and rescue by responders.
None of this has any damn thing to do with the weapon. And this new sham working group knows this. But, they can’t pass up a chance to further hinder the American People protecting themselves...from criminals AND the government.
Remember...the only reason they want to take your guns is because they intend to do something for which they may get shot.
Minnesota’s republican candidate for Governor signed on to democrat gun control bills (he later withdrew when it blew up in his face)
I don’t understand were all these anti second amendment rinos are coming from.
“They are flirting with losing winnable Senate seats in November.”
It may be intentional, because Republican senators always seem terrified of being in power.
we know all we need to know about these GOP scumbags.
No.
Itβs what they want
Perhaps we should prevent democrat women from raising boys. It seems they raise most of the school shooters, as well as most violent criminals in general.
Yep...but, more people are figuring out the opposite...this committee is treading on dangerous ground.
It looks like the Republicans desperately want to remain the minority party.
