The sexual revolution has been a disaster for women – that was the provocative case set out by Louise Perry in yesterday’s Daily Mail.
Here, in a second extract from her powerful new book, she takes on feminists who deride marriage. Yes, it’s hard work, she says, and most don’t live up to a romantic ideal, but it still offers the best protection possible for a woman and her children.
The institution of marriage is now more or less dead. In 1968, eight per cent of children were born to parents who were not married; in 2019, it was almost half. And now in this country there is a divorce for every two marriages.
It was not meant to be like this. Proponents of the 1969 Divorce Reform Act – the key piece of liberalising legislation – believed the changes they argued for would be an act of kindness towards a smallish number of unhappy people stuck in wretched marriages, and lift the stigma from the then tiny minority unfortunate enough to have been through divorce.
‘This Bill does not open the door to easy divorce,’ announced the attorney general of the time. And yet open it did.
There was always a threshold of marital dysfunction above which a marriage was considered beyond saving, and reformers intended to nudge that line only a little.
Yet each marginal divorce made the next one more likely, and the one after that more likely still, with the result that the threshold went hurtling downwards at great speed.

Amen to that. 32 years and counting. Both of us are educated and we made sure our two kids are educated, both graduating from college. We taught them compassion, thinking for themselves and how to be resourceful and not rely on anyone else.
Seems to have worked....... so far
To “nuke” the nuclear family and destruction of all things Judeo-Christian are top goals to our wannabe global masters. Now meeting in Davos to plan your “you’ll own nothing and be happy” future.
Anything that challenges your total loyalty to the “collective” must be destroyed. Our wannabe feudal lords demand “no other gods before them.” Your faith and family must be obliterated. The planet shall become a plantation, they the masters, you the slave (at worse) serf (at best), living a rationed subsistence. Obey or be “cancelled!”
Thanks to God that will not be the end of the story.
I posted the other day that when I was in high school, something like 90% of the “bad kids” lived in apartment complexes with single moms. Very destructive to the children.
I am a HUGE proponent of staying married, especially if kids are involved. I stayed a decade longer than I should have in a bad marriage for the kids. HOWEVER - if there is abuse, infidelity, money laundering, drug or alcohol issues, get out!
So, your advice still applies! ;)

Once the boys were out of the nest, I chucked the Dead Weight and went on to be rich and successful!
Found True Love and a decent man later in life, but it took me until I was 50. He was WELL worth the wait. :)
Why give them even this little credit? Their goal was 50% of the voter base, that was all.
Today, divorce is so easy that we can see that it is the woman who has the midlife crisis. Our ancestors knew this and made marriage stronger in order to survive it.
Our goal should be to take ALL the wealth and property away from those meeting in Davos, put them all in prison and tell them THEY will own nothing and be happy.
The world’s massive population has the huge numbers and the combined power to strip every single one of these wealthy elites of EVERYTHING they have stolen from the world’s poor.
I’m glad your success story came true. Sometimes happiness comes later rather than sooner. Sometimes it doesn’t come at all despite doing everything correctly.

If only it were that simple. Let’s see if that theory holds up: Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Donald J Trump and so many others.
Does the theory improve your chances, though? Probably.
What is more basic is, what does the institution of marriage contribute to a civil and well-performing society? My answer is “everything.” Look at what has happened to our country since the rebellion and radical social changes of the 60s. Changes that were called “progress,” yet they reversed about everything we had achieved as a country up to that point.
As a country, we’ve literally fallen apart! One only has to look at shitholes like Chicago, Portland, Seattle, and a host of others (many others) to see the results. On top of that how can any sane human not look at the slaughter of little children like the debacle in TX or the killings in Buffalo (just two recent examples of many) and not say, something is not right?
God made bond paring for us (humans) and it worked to grow our species to eight billion.
Man’s meddling is about to reverse that achievement.

In the United States women initiate 70% of divorces. The rate jumps to 90% for college educated women. A man is playing Russian Roulette with several chambers loaded. Fenimism and family law has made marriage a horrible deal for men.
just because you offer yourself, and most times are as equally fulfilled, doesnt give you the right to be a bitch!!
just keep that in mind and practice the concept, and you should have a long lasting relationship...
