Russia has fired more missiles in the Ukraine war than have been fired by any country in any other conflict since World War II—a record, according to air-warfare experts and new data obtained exclusively by Newsweek, that has failed to pay off for Moscow.

"Just think of this terrible figure: 2,154 Russian missiles hit our cities and communities in a little over two months," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said last week. "The Russian bombing of Ukraine does not cease any day or night."

But the bombing campaign has done little to help win Putin's war, exposing key lessons about the future of warfare.

Ukraine “won” when Russia didn’t take the country as quickly as predicted. Initial projections said Russia would have control in 1-4 days, then 10 days to two weeks, etc.

Now we’re months into the conflict and Russia has pulled back dramatically, focusing on trying to secure/control the Donbas region, and that still isn’t happening.

I’m not sure who’s “winning” — as you stated, some of Ukraine is in ruins — but I certainly wouldn’t place my bets on Russia at this point. Their military has been exposed as an utter failure and fraud, which is a huge loss for them on the world stage.

“Russia has fired more missiles in the Ukraine war than have been fired by any country in any other conflict since World War II—a record, according to air-warfare experts...”

“2,154 Russian missiles hit our cities and communities in a little over two months”

I guess this isn’t considered a “conflict?”

Israel 2021:

“Then came a 36-hour period from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon when 800 rockets were fired. That appears to be an uptick again. Either way, what we know is that basically a week of rocket fire has seen around 400-500 fired a day.”

“By 7 p.m. on Sunday May 16, a total of 3,100 had been fired”

Very interesting.

Shows the Russian military has a problem with actually controlling the airspace over Ukraine.

They don't, because they can't.

It is quite interesting the Israel is providing ZERO military assistance to Ukraine. Shouldn’t they be providing their Iron Dome system, LOL.

Everyone paying attention knows why they don’t provide it - the world MUST SEE damage - Ukraine/Russia is the catalyst.

We sent in over 1000 aircraft sorties on the first night of DS. But that was 1991, and GPS guided bombs and missiles were the exception, not the norm. Lots of iron bombs and TV guided munitions then. Quite a few tomahawks (inertial with image terminal guidance) but I dont know if the count reached 2000 over the course of the war. Those were expensive not necessarily as good as a good bunker buster, depending on the target.

What this war has shown is that Putin may have stand-off weapons, but he doesnt really know how to employ them to achieve a decisive victory. It also shows that he cant achieve air superiority/supremacy against a military 1/10 the size of the russian military.

The Orc VKF is used as flying artillery, very little CAS. Most missiles are launched from inside Russia.

🇺🇦⚡Now we are in a difficult situation and this situation will be aggravated.

Within a month and a half, until Western weapons arrive, encirclement, abandonment of positions, heavy losses are possible. You have to be ready for this.

🇷🇺🇺🇦❗Huge forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces passed over Lugansk towards the front, powerful explosions thundered

The correspondent of “Russian Spring” from the capital of the LPR reports that he sees this for the first time, a lot of combat aircraft and helicopters swept over the city. They went in several waves. Soon, deafening explosions thundered in the distance, windows and even the walls of houses trembled.

Talking to two police officers just back from Lyman. They stress the need for more anti-air systems and jets. “We can’t handle the Russian aviation. Today already, there were five airstrikes, planes flying just over us. We don’t have enough forces to repel the Russian assault.”

Talked to one soldier who just arrived here from Zaporizhye. Said his unit’s base there got hit by four shells yesterday. At least 17 KIA, they’re still pulling bodies out. Brutal.

I think the difference is in the nature of the weapon used in Ukraine vs. Israel.

In Ukraine, they refer to MISSILES, all of which contain some sort of guidance system. In Israel, they refer to ROCKETS, which have no guidance system. Missiles are more accurate, but more expensive; rockets are inaccurate, but cheaper.

I think the real reason for the ineffectiveness of Russia’s air war in Ukraine, is not an ineffectiveness of the armaments themselves, but in the Russia choice of targeting. Russia has inflcited massive damages on city and housing structures, forcing out masses of people. But the Ukraine military has suffered far less strategic losses in terms of their ability to fight. THAT also suggests inaccurate Russian intelligence for aiming Russian arms at Ukraine’s military instead of how easy it has been to target civilian residential areas.

It reminds me of Hitler’s air war against Britain which was ineffective at destroying Britains ability to fight, in spite of all the structural damage in did.

Rouble DROPS SHARPLY After RU Central Bank Slashes Key Rate to 11%

Moscow. 26 of May. INTERFAX — At an extraordinary meeting on Thursday, the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia decided to cut the key rate by 300 basis points (bp) to 11% per annum, the regulator said in a statement.

This is the third rate cut in a row by such a step: on April 8, it was reduced to 17%, on April 29 - to 14%. The Central Bank sharply raised the key rate on February 28 from 9.5% to 20% per annum in response to the growth of devaluation and inflation risks. In March, the regulator kept it at 20%.

The Bank of Russia noted a significant slowdown in the current rates of price growth.

“The dynamics of the ruble exchange rate, along with a noticeable decrease in inflationary expectations of the population and business, contribute to the weakening of inflationary pressure,” the Central Bank emphasizes.

Pro-inflationary risks are also limited by the continued inflow of funds for fixed-term ruble deposits and the low level of lending activity. This necessitates easing monetary conditions, the regulator notes.
