Thunderdome: New York's new congressional maps are creating 'chaos' for Democrats

Democrats created a heavily gerrymandered congressional map in New York which was designed to help them pick up a few seats and thereby help preserve their majority in the House. But last month the NY Court of Appeals ruled the heavily gerrymandered map violated the state constitution in part because it was clearly drawn with partisan intent.

Democrats argued that there wasn’t time to do anything about the maps so, even though they were unconstitutional, they would have to be used anyway. The court disagreed and handed the creation of new maps over to a special master, an elections expert named Jonathan Cervas, who would draw up new maps that everyone would just have to live with. We got a preview of the maps Monday and the reaction from Democrats was shock and dismay. Instead of gaining 3 seats in the state, the new, fairer maps mean Democrats could lose several seats instead.

But it’s not just the number of seats Democrats could lose that’s the problem. The new maps will also force a number of Democrats into awkward primary battles with one another. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called it “chaos” and for once she’s right.

The thunderdome-style showdown between Nadler and Maloney is just the start of the problem for the state’s Democrats. When the maps were revealed Monday, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney announced he would jump from the 18th district into the new 17th district. And, to be fair, he appears to be the only Democrat who actually lives in this newly drawn district.

***

But that decision creates problems for the current occupant of the 17th district, Rep. Mondaire Jones:

There were two slices, but one got up and headed south where the Americans live - so they’ll have to fight over what is left.

These sanctuary states like NY and NJ are suffering the consequences of the illusion of population; Americans and their employers have been leaving for decades, and are being replaced with illegals just to prevent ghost towns. Many years ago Governor Corzine in NJ admitted as much; he specifically said NJ would have lost population without ILLEGAL immigrants. Hence the push to count them for the census; we’ll be reduced to counting peoples’ cats and dogs soon...

"Does this affect AOC’s district?"

Probably not. But I heard she's marrying some rich guy anyway.

"Heads, I win, tails, you lose!" But they couldn't get that over the finish line THIS TIME. Conspicuous in silence is Obama exAG Eric Holder who has been PREACHING nationwide about the sins of Gerrymandering. However the non-biased observer, which absents 99% of the MSM, will note that he, and his organization(s), only target non-LEFT states ('D'onkey = LEFT).

Circular firing squads are fun to watch.

The funniest thing about this article is that Democrats are furious at Maloney for running in a district that he actually lives in, which shows how out-of-control the gerrymandering was.

Democrats. when caught on a chair with a cookie in one hand and the other in the cookie jar will lie right to your face and claim you’re not seeing what you are clearly seeing then on top of that when they realize they aren’t going to get away with denying the obvious they demand to keep the cookies because they’ve already bit into one and touched the other with their dirty filthy hands. Democrats....

Boy Howdy, that first Congressional map must have been really bad if a NY Court of Appeals threw it out.
It is kinda fun to see the Democrats fighting over the scraps for the remaining secure congressional seats.

However, I have faith in The Party to come up with a very undemocratic and probably unconstitutional solution that will keep all their power players in The District of Corruption.

A couple of ideas off the top of my head:
1) At Large seats for the poor displaced Congress Critters
2)Make it illegal for New Yorkers to immigrate to other states

Number one, see my sig line; number two, it's an ongoing process to create a single party state.
