“The virus is going to keep evolving,” she added. “And there are probably going to be a lot of people getting many, many reinfections throughout their lives.”
It’s difficult to quantify how frequently people are reinfected, in part because many infections are now going unreported. Dr. Pulliam and her colleagues have collected enough data in South Africa to say that the rate is higher with Omicron than seen with previous variants.
This is not how it was supposed to be. Earlier in the pandemic, experts thought that immunity from vaccination or previous infection would forestall most reinfections.
The Omicron variant dashed those hopes. Unlike previous variants, Omicron and its many descendants seem to have evolved to partially dodge immunity. That leaves everyone — even those who have been vaccinated multiple times — vulnerable to multiple infections.
“If we manage it the way that we manage it now, then most people will get infected with it at least a couple of times a year,” said Kristian Andersen, a virologist at the Scripps Research Institute in San Diego. “I would be very surprised if that’s not how it’s going to play out.”
The new variants have not altered the fundamental usefulness of the Covid vaccines. Most people who have received three or even just two doses will not become sick enough to need medical care if they test positive for the coronavirus. And a booster dose, like a previous bout with the virus, does seem to decrease the chance of reinfection — but not by much.

Answer here is a NO from me.
In fact the article states that the vaccines are offering very little protection at all. The virus is acting like a cold virus they state...well imagine that, duh.
These "experts" sure seem quite ignorant two years into this "pandemic" of a cold virus. Getting shots 3-4 times a year is not a successful protocol. Especially if the variant is mild! One must decide the risk vs. rewards regarding both.
It’s basically the common cold. You get it periodically throughout your life. When you get to be 85 or so, it might kill you. Younger people also can die from a simple respiratory virus, but they usually don’t. YAWN.

I think the broads on the View said the same thing.
I still remember the clown here that made fun of me when I said it might be possible to be reinfected..and how dare I contradict the great fauci. I hope he is now embarrassed at the way he was fawning all over Fauci.
Folks should read this, keep in mind the pediatric hepatitis and monkeypox cases they've been hearing about, then ask themselves if they want another CoupFlu shot...
Environmental Risk Assessment of Recombinant Viral Vector Vaccines against SARS-Cov-2
The problem is without accurate testing, the case stats are crap.
How come common colds can’t be prevented? duh
It’s good that the realization is spreading that all the hysteria, lockdowns, school closures, mandatory shots were all for naught.
” ... lockdowns, school closures, mandatory shots were all for naught.”
Not really naught. The hysteria served its intended purpose, i.e., manipulating the 2020 election to facilitate fraud. It was successful.
Seems like those thrice vaxxed have been getting it on a regular basis. Would be interested in knowing if those not vaccinated and were infected once are getting it again. I tend to think not. NATURAL IMMUNITY something these experts scientists and politician talking heads will not even mention because it goes against their agenda of control. Food for thought, we already assume that when you test for covid you almost always come up positive (to keep the SLUSH funding going as part of our national BUDGET NOW and the control factor) and the quick home tests made in china. What if the home tests are also set up for positive. Joe jacksons song “everything gives you cancer” can be substituted with covid these days
True. Too much unknown. There are still Drs that claim long haul Covid is not real..but they are coming around to it’s a real problem
But the reality is that you can get it again.
Only low information and low IQ people think ANY vaccine can PROTECT you from getting infected. No vaccine ever had ability to build a virus proof filter in respiratory system.
If you are alive and breathing and there is virus material floating near you, it will be inhaled into deep pockets in lungs. Covid lives to replicate using lung tissue.
Only function of any vaccine is to create additional stock of anti-bodies to fight virus AFTER it invades and infects.
I got best vaccine ever invented at age 7 and got infected anyway with smallpox 2 years later. But the vaccine had done it’s job and I am still here 73 years later and survived that nasty smallpox with 30+% mortality rates.

Again, we don’t know that.
For instance, do you know anyone who claims to have had CoupFlu twice who’s had a titer done after their first suspected go round?
To my mind, without the results of that titer, given the utter uselessness of the PCR tests, a person doesn’t know if he/she’s had the coof or not.
As for the so-called long COVID...
Sigh.
Don’t get me started.
My youngest son got covid at Thanksgiving of 2020, then was swayed by his peers to get two doses of the vaccine in May and June last year. He did get the booster, but then got Omicron at Easter this year, a few weeks ago. The first one lasted about a week or just more than, and he lost his taste and smell as well as had a bad cough. This time he was mildly sick with a stuffy nose for a few days, no cough.
Yes it does seem that way. And then when they get it again, they jump on social media and proclaim how thankful they are for being 'fully vaccinated'.
Oops, I missed it during my proofread before posting. He *didn’t* get the booster, but got Omicron.
I have had Covid twice based not on crappy PCR tests, but serology antigen tests. I did not get the jab. I am dealing with long haul Covid along with many others in New York. We have a myriad of symptoms including fatigue, brain fog, chills, weak immune systems, night sweats, short-term memory loss, cognitive impairment, GI problems, loss of sense of smell and taste, et al. This Covid virus is made up of several viruses including HIV (because the CCP wanted to destroy our immune systems to make us permanently vulnerable to infections.)
I hate the CCP for they have to do us. And I especially hate those in our own country who were part of it. Fauci being at the top of that list.
Yes. The election was stolen with Covid ballots. You’re right.
I just wanted to use the word “naught”. It’s naught used enough.
I love “naught”, especially when Jethro is cypherin’.
