If J.D. Vance follows his Tuesday night victory in Ohio’s Senate primary with a general election win in November he’ll arrive in a Washington filled with enemies and be seen as arguably the hardest-edged populist nationalist in the Senate GOP.
Why it matters: The Republican establishment privately regards Vance with the same disgust many felt toward Donald Trump when he entered the White House on Jan. 20, 2017.
The big picture: Vance’s victory deals a body blow to a small but noticeable resurgence of anti-Trump — or post-Trump — sentiment in the GOP.

Vance all the way!
The feeling is mutual!
The Repukes are definitely going to try and get that Rat elected. No doubt.
That’s a good sign.
It’s time to Rock The Boat!
Agreed. “The Republican Establishment” is viewed as a mortal enemy by any real conservative, and as a bad thing by a good many “Republicans” now.
I think the “Republican Establishment” understands this dynamic quite well. And if they don’t, they should.
That “anti-Trump” sentiment is really anti-American citizen sentiment, they want to replace us, that’s why they are assisting the Democrats to import a new electorate.
We would never vote to give up our sovereignty and subsume our country to the UN in a New World Order, so they are importing people who will.
This has been true for the 30 years since the Bush League took over the GOP.
I don’t know anything about Vance, but there seem to be mixed feelings about him here. Why is that?
“I don’t know anything about Vance, but there seem to be mixed feelings about him here. Why is that?”
Basically because of what Vance said about Trump in 2016.
But many (even on here) said things and were skeptical about Trump in 2016.
Here’s hoping that the Vance after the primary election is the same Vance after the general election.
The GOP is useless as long as The Turtle bid there
Vance will win now. The ball is in his court to do what he promises.
All the better! It means he was the right pick. Sorry Mitch. Bwahahahaha...
Establishment Republicans, Vichy Republicans, Never Trump Republicans are mostly one and the same. Once they get to Washington, they soon realize, they are among the Elite Rulers and like all other members of the Ruling Class, they look upon the hoi polli with distain.
In the last 36 hours, MAGA and DJT have all but killed Roe v Wade, and won 22 Trump endorsements in Ohio and Indiana. It’s no wonder Biden Republicans are testy today!
Yet, we had now many here claiming Vance was a RINO?
“But many (even on here) said things and were skeptical about Trump in 2016.”
You are correct. Especially the Ted Cruz crowd.
most people who immigrate here, even illegally, are more conservative than US conservatives are. Its normal. Poorer cultures have much stronger familial bonds because they need each other to survive. Expecting them to automatically be regressive leftist progressives, like the Dems do, is absurd beyond belief. They may vote Dem at first but once they get a clue they invariably vote against the party that favors the destruction of the family.
Illegal aliens vote for free stuff, every time.
“In a way, the world−view of the Party imposed itself most successfully on people incapable of understanding it. They could be made to accept the most flagrant violations of reality, because they never fully grasped the enormity of what was demanded of them, and were not sufficiently interested in public events to notice what was happening. By lack of understanding they remained sane. They simply swallowed everything, and what they swallowed did them no harm, because it left no residue behind, just as a grain of corn will pass undigested through the body of a bird.”
― George Orwell, 1984
Don’t know much about Vance, why do they hate him,??
