Wait, Do Masks Protect Me If I’m the Only Person Wearing Them?
Well+Good ^ | Apr 21, 2022 | Kells McPhillips

Despite the fact that most Americans support mask requirements on shared transportation, a federal judge struck down President Biden's mask mandate for people on airplanes and other modes of travel on April 18. Several aircraft carriers have dropped their mask mandates as a result. But if you still feel compelled to mask up before your next flight or subway ride, you may be wondering if one-way masking is effective.

First, let's discuss why masks are a useful form of protection against COVID-19. "Masks help to decrease transmission of COVID-19 by limiting the distance that respiratory droplets can travel and spread when people cough, sneeze, speak and more," says Mary Rodgers, PhD, an expert in infectious diseases with Abbott. "Medical-grade masks that have multiple layers, like KN95s, can even help to filter particles containing viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19."

As Dr. Rodgers' definition implies, masks are a way of looking out for your fellow human beings. They are designed to protect the community around you from contracting SARS-CoV-2, and according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), they are an effective way to help prevent the spread of the virus. But what if no one else is masking? Does that count for anything? .....

With that info in mind, Dr. Rodgers recommends wearing a high-quality mask like an N95 or a KN95 that fits snuggly against your face. "In fact, scientists wear N95 masks to protect ourselves in biosafety level three laboratories where we work with live SARS-CoV-2 virus, so this kind of protection is the gold standard," she adds.

"fact that most Americans support mask requirements on shared transportation" BS!!! If that was the case most passengers would still be masked.

"scientists wear N95 masks to protect ourselves in biosafety level three laboratories where we work with live SARS-CoV-2 virus" Are they wearing the masks with a full bio-hazard suit? Kind of dumb if not.

Most Americans do not support this… this article is based of a lie and simply compounds that lie

(Wearing one is good...wearing two is gooder.)

Wearing 7 is goodest.

Now in cold weather, I do wear my cloth one because I’ve always been susceptible to catching the flu, easily, even while pumping my gas ⛽ (should have filled up before it jumped 27 cents a gallon 2 days ago).

N95s and P100s pretty much end the discussion. Yes. They do work. The CDC should fund them for all. And mandate them.

This is all a calendar thing. If people are wearing N95s, there is no doubt about effective. It took a few years for people to accept smoking restrictions, but now, there’s no further debate. The same would evolve true with N95s mandated.

Ah yes, the old "You're a terrible person who wants others to DIE, if you don't choose to wear a face diaper!"

If you're that afraid of a "disease" that is no deadlier than the flu, stay home and leave the rest of us to live our lives in peace, and more importantly, in FREEDOM.

You must be some city slicker, but then again you are right in ways you don't know. Around these parts, smoking restrictions are ignored. So are mask mandates.

The CDC should require all transportation providers to carry only one passenger at a time. That would work. Anything to “keep us safe,” right?

Yep! That was my immediate reaction, too. If that were true, then why did all the passengers rip their masks off and cheer when the plane captains came on the intercom and said "You are free!"?

Try this experiment in your car, Karen McPhillips.

Mask up four people in your car with masks. Pick a mask, any mask.

Drive about 2 minutes and guess what? You smell everyone’s cologne and perfume. A virus is a million times smaller than a perfume molecule.

One more thing Karen, BL4 labs have total containment protocols. See Ft. Detrick, MD for further information.

Discussion of masks to me is so March, 2020. I already had my stash of N95’s from prior years, and had stocked more in February.

N95’s are effective to a certain degree. Some reports say they keep out 50% of the viral particles. I think it is more than that.

And they don't need to be 95% effective to do some good. Reducing the viral load even 50% might be enough to keep your immune system from getting overloaded so it can fight the virus so you don't get sick.

I also used to wear googles. This was back in the day when we were still getting fed the Chinese propaganda of people walking in the street and falling over dead from Covid.

"Yes. They do work. The CDC should fund them for all. And mandate them."

Prove that they "do work". Let me help you out: you can't, because they don't. Then explain to us why, up until "COVID", masks weren't mandated for other airborne viruses. Then explain why/how an agency packed with worthless bureaucrats, should have the authority to dictate the lives of every single person in the country, and why they should not have to PROVE anything, and why anyone who questions their diktats should be shouted down, shamed, and cancelled.

For bonus points, explain why it makes sense for people to have to wear masks while walking into a restaurant, but it's perfectly fine for them to take them off while dining for an hour or two, surrounded by dozens of similarly maskless diners. And, why it makes sense for people to have to wear masks on planes, but can drop the masks while "actively eating or drinking."

Only a true masktard could believe any of this crap, or try to defend it.

I see you’re not only a vax shill, but a Karen as well.

N95 masks filter 95% of particles >3 microns in size.

Covid particle is 0.125 microns.

Do the math, genius.
