N95s and P100s pretty much end the discussion. Yes. They do work. The CDC should fund them for all. And mandate them.
This is all a calendar thing. If people are wearing N95s, there is no doubt about effective. It took a few years for people to accept smoking restrictions, but now, there’s no further debate. The same would evolve true with N95s mandated.

N95’s are effective to a certain degree. Some reports say they keep out 50% of the viral particles. I think it is more than that.
And they don't need to be 95% effective to do some good. Reducing the viral load even 50% might be enough to keep your immune system from getting overloaded so it can fight the virus so you don't get sick.
I also used to wear googles. This was back in the day when we were still getting fed the Chinese propaganda of people walking in the street and falling over dead from Covid.

N95 masks are expensive, must be form-fitted to be effective, must be donned correctly, and are effectively single-use under circumstances of exposure to a truly critical biohazard.
They don't work at all for people who have beards.
But the ineffective nature of masking for an untrained and undisciplined population is hardly important.
Masks are a visible symbol of submission to the arbitrary orders from authorities. That is their entire purpose.

Masks don’t work unless they’re properly fitted, changed numerous times during the day and in controlled environments. Btw, we’re talking about a 0.01 micron particle size and N95 can’t do too much under 5 microns.
Also, universal daily masking doesn’t do anything and if it did we would have know this decades ago.

An N95 mask is rated to trap 95% of the particles from 4 to 2 Microns.
The SARS-CV-2 virus is about 20 times smaller, at 0.1 to 0.06 Microns.
Coughing? Sneezing? Those are symptoms. SARS-CV-2 sheds from infected people before they are symptomatic. That means they don’t have to be coughing or sneezing in order to shed virus.
BTW, N95s only filter inbound, not outbound.

Are you suggesting the mask mandates should be continued on a seasonal bases for the rest of time?
It is likely that some number much higher than 90 is the percentage of N-95 masks being worn in public which have never been properly ‘Fit Tested.’ Proper ‘Fit Testing’ usually involves verifying that there is an air tight seal by confirming that a Saccharine or Pepper aerosol does not pass through the mask seal while the mask has actually been donned. It involves wearing a hood over the entire head while the mask is actually being worn. BTW, some great number of persons, myself among them have trouble being properly fitted with those masks.
It is an absurdity to express that N-95 masks are being worn by so many people having been properly fit tested.
