Discussion of masks to me is so March, 2020. I already had my stash of N95’s from prior years, and had stocked more in February.

N95’s are effective to a certain degree. Some reports say they keep out 50% of the viral particles. I think it is more than that.

And they don't need to be 95% effective to do some good. Reducing the viral load even 50% might be enough to keep your immune system from getting overloaded so it can fight the virus so you don't get sick.

I also used to wear googles. This was back in the day when we were still getting fed the Chinese propaganda of people walking in the street and falling over dead from Covid.

“Reducing the viral load even 50% might be enough...”

Not likely. Looks like the virus reproduces fast enough that a 50% reduction in INITIAL load won’t mean much.

There are certain people who, for an unknown reason, have a severe reaction to COVID. The rest of us? It’s just a cold. And the people who get the severe reaction usually get it after being told to go home and rest and call back if it becomes life-threatening....

Plenty of studies were done on mask effectiveness before COVID started. Unless you are in a biohazard suit...they don’t do squat against a virus. Then a virus hit while Trump was President, and suddenly masks became effective. Shazaam!

“they don’t need to be 95% effective to do some good. Reducing the viral load even 50% might be enough to keep your immune system from getting overload” Hate to say it but....This is libtard (wishful) thinking. At best the N95 might reduce it by 50% sure, but you only need 1% to get infections. We are talking millions of viruses.
-——— This study says it give you 5 minutes. Not worth the extra infectious burden that masks cause (touching, not cleaning, re-using them etc)

• A modelling study done by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention used simulated cough and exhalation aerosols estimates that the time to infectious dose for an uninfected person (reciever) was estimated to be 15 minutes with nothing, 20 minutes with a typical cloth mask, and 30 minutes with a typical surgical mask (Aerosol Science and Technology. 2021;55:1125-1142 DOI: 10.1080/02786826.2021.1933377). These same times to infectious were calculated when the source was wearing a mask (outward leakage)(15 minutes with nothing, 20 minutes with a typical cloth mask, and 30 minutes with a typical surgical mask).
