It is time for separation of school and state.

The belief that public education is aware of any responsibility that it may have toward A) parents and B) taxpayers is a destructive one.
Public school is, one way or another, bound to become a waste of taxpayers’ money.
There aren’t enough blacks who meet the standards, therefore the program is racist. The logic of the leftards.
This has been the case for a Looooooooong time. I blame Bush and the “No Child Gets Ahead” legislation he signed.
Also, classrooms full of dull children need the smart kids to raise the class average, on which the teacher may be evaluated.
Leftist elites abolish gift programs in public schools and abolish standardized test scores like the SAT because such moves don’t affect them. (1) Their kids are in private schools. (2) The apples don’t fall far from the trees, and their kids are idiots who do poorly on the SAT, but can still get into a tony private college based on their private-school credentials, status as alumni legacies and/or parental donations.
Because man was created in the image of God, not Satan.
I would posit that once a community is in the throes of gentrification, exceptionalism goes out the window to be replaced with the bonds of mediocracy.
“EQUITY” Means same outcomes.
School districts have always hated gifted programs. This kind of thing has been going on since the 80s at least. I don’t know why. It’s a weird thing to fight against.

Gifted kids likely won’t cooperate with that.

Gifted children, and anyone who works in a school knows they exist, challenge the leftist notion of equality. It’s odd, really. The bell-shaped curve exists everywhere, except, according to them, when it comes to IQ. In fact they are very uncomfortable with the whole idea of IQ and intelligence in general.
Like Lake Woebegone all children are ‘above average’. The whole goal of the misbegotten ‘No Child Left Behind’ was to eliminate the notion that half of humanity is below average when it comes intelligence. I mean it’s just not fair!
So programs for gifted kids have to go.
