Former President Donald Trump has endorsed best-selling author J.D. Vance, a vocal national populist, in the Ohio Republican Senate primary race.
In a statement on Friday, Trump issued a full endorsement of Vance, calling him “the candidate most qualified and ready to win” against the likely Democrat Senate candidate, Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), in the November midterm elections.
"We cannot play games,” Trump wrote. “It is all about winning!”
“Like some others, J.D. Vance may have said some not-so-great things about me in the past, but he gets it now, and I have seen that in spades. He is our best chance for victory in what could be a very tough race,” Trump continued:
The Democrats will be spending many millions of dollars, but the good news is that they have a defective candidate who ran for President and garnered exactly zero percent in the polls. The bottom line is, we must have a Republican victory in Ohio. [Emphasis added]
This is not an easy endorsement for me to make because I like and respect some of the other candidates in the race — they’ve said great things about “Trump” and, like me, they love Ohio and love our Country. I’ve studied this race closely and I think J.D. is the most likely to take out the weak, but dangerous, Democrat opponent — dangerous because they will have so much money to spend. [Emphasis added]
However, J.D. will destroy him in the debates and will fight for the MAGA Movement in the Senate. He’s strong on the Border, tough on Crime, understands how to use Taxes and Tariffs to hold China accountable, will fight to break up Big Tech, and has been a warrior on the Rigged and Stolen Presidential Election.

I’ve seen one interview with the guy and he seems okay to me. I’m not an expert on the guy though so I hope its not a bad pick (like Dr.Oz)

My only contact regarding JD Vance has been on Bannon’s War Room.
Bannon has promoted Vance and that is supportive.
The middle finger is extended to the Republican Establishment in Ohio.

Trump sees the big picture and does not make endorsements blindly or without due consideration.
McConnell We need candidates who can win
Seems Trump is taking a page from McConnell's book but slightly different and more based on star power and talking ability. Dr Oz had his own show. Vance wrote a book that got turned into a movie and is well spoken. A Yale man.
I doubt either Oz or Vance have the connection to regular people that Trump does. If they're the only candidate with a hope of beating the dem in their locale, I suppose that's a good thing.

I am a Trump fan "big league" ("bigly" is incorrect), but it's foolish not to call him out when he makes mistakes, such as endorsing Dr. Oz or promulgation the bump stock ban.
Dr. Oz and now Vance. Just a taste of the continuing bad choices he will make when in office again

But...we here in Ohio have a chance to defeat him in the primary with Mandel or Timkin.
The other guys are also CofC chumps like Vance.
I AM an Ohio voter and I hope he loses. He's a Kasich RINO, pro-union, anti right-to-work, pro abortion, and is a puppet of Peter Thiel. No thanks.

Both Steve Bannon and Matt Gaetz have endorsed Vance and have spoken with him at length and they confirm Vance’s conversion to Trump’s MAGA movement.
A great many Freepers supported a few other candidates in the primaries leading up to the 2016 election. The vast majority went on to support President Trump.
Probably the Most Famous of the Converted is Glenn Beck followed by Mark Levin. It is very possible to be unsupportive of someone only to be proven wrong and be man enough to admit it and change your tune.
Only the obstinate are incapable of this.
That said, there are duplicitous Backstabbers out there. Several of those are announcing their retirements rather than face voter wrath in November.
I’m not from Ohio either.
I trust Ohio GOP voters will sort it out.

My gut says Trump had his chance and should just shut up and go away. But, he’s the epitome of “cult of personality”, and I like him as a person, which means a lot when it comes to politicians. I don’t instinctively like very many of them.
2022 and 2024 are going to be hideously interesting, if nothing else.
