U.S. lawmakers are reportedly questioning California Sen. Dianne Feinstein's capacity to do her job at her age.
Senators and other officials are reportedly concerned that Diane Feinstein, 88, is no longer mentally competent enough to do her job as a lawmaker, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Feinstein's critics, however, have declined to speak on the record and asked to have their names withheld.
"I have worked with her for a long time and long enough to know what she was like just a few years ago: always in command, always in charge, on top of the details, basically couldn’t resist a conversation where she was driving some bill or some idea. All of that is gone," an anonymous lawmaker told the Chronicle.

No longer fit? Kind of assuming something there.

See something say something. It’s incumbent upon her fellow senators to step up and say what everyone knows.

Why do Democrats cling to these political posts until they are practically corpses? It's not like they need the money. Don't they have families and friends to spend their last years with at leisure?
This can't be what the Founding Fathers intended. Office holders were supposed to serve a term or two and get back to their real lives.

Regardless of party we need a mandatory retirement at age 70. 70 seems a little too young to me. OTOH, the minimum voting age should be 30.

They’re all going the dementia way out.

.....“Starting under [President] Obama, I began to notice she seemed confused in meetings,” said the former government affairs executive, who did not want to be identified to avoid causing trouble for the large firm that employed him. “But it was inconsistent. Sometimes she was clear and coherent in meetings. Other occasions, she didn’t seem to understand the issues and sometimes even the person with whom she was meeting.”........
She's 88 now - there but not there - a subject of scorn, considered by many a relic who is well past her prime, who refuses to yield to someone younger, more vibrant, more politically pugnacious and more reflective of California’s kaleidoscopic racial and ethnic diversity

“If we had a public that was interested there would be such a clamor for age and term limits that they would have to be implemented.”
Problem is that on the Federal level the only way to implement such a change would be via a Constitutional Amendment, which requires 2/3rds of each house to vote for it before it gets sent to the states. Don’t see the leaders of Congress (who would lose their jobs and power) even allowing such a thing out of committee.
I know that amendments can be proposed if 2/3rds of the states call for a Convention to propose amendments, but that option has never been implemented. In many states where term-limits have been implemented I believe it has come via the Initiative process, which doesn’t exist on the Federal level.
