MONROE, Mich. – A Monroe County major has been charged after he submitted overtime documents for shifts he didn’t work, state officials said.
Monroe County Major Jeffrey Kemp turned himself in Friday and was arraigned in 1st District Court on two counts of misconduct in office and two counts of false pretenses between $200 and $1,000.
The misconduct in office charges are five-year felonies, and the false pretenses charges are one-year misdemeanors.
Officials said Kemp falsified overtime documents in 2018 to show that he was participating in marine patrol shifts when, in reality, he wasn’t working.

Happens every day!!
This happens way more often than reported.
And, it is one of the few things that can get you dismissed from government service.
$900. Took long enough to dig this crime up.
Is that like one step below a “Kentucky colonel”?
The guy is a deputy sheriff who holds the rank of major. Poorly written story.
I’m sorry, but we are going to have to start hanging thieves.
There are too many of them and they aren’t afraid of going to prison.
I knew a Major Malfunction once.
There was a crooked cop in my old hometown who used to work side hustles as a security guard while on the clock for the department.
He was a loud mouth ‘everything’s racist’ Sargent who ~supposedly~ had dirt on some city councilmen and nothing came of it.
Also, the guy ran a non-profit shelter for hookers. His police car would be there at 11:30 at night.
When Katrina hit-—the GHOST PAYROLL SCAM got uncovered.
Mayor OF N O was involved, IIRC.
Don’t forget Major Major Major Major from Catch-22.
I knew a Sergeant Pickle once, but he was always jerkin his gherkin.
What the hell is a Major?
What’s the big deal? He identified as being there.
I knew a Sergeant Pickle once, but he was always jerkin his gherkin.
With relish?
RIP Gunny
